So is there any major problems with the Note 3? Looking to replace my S2 in the next couple weeks.
I don't have one personally, but other than some people thinking it is too big, it has been widely praised pretty much everywhere I have read about it, this thread included.

My brother and his wife are all about the Note. Brother has a Note 2 and his wife just got a Note 3. They like them a lot.

After having to install some downloaded apps on my Nexus 7 tablet, it made me miss having that flexibility on my phone. One of the downsides of going to an iPhone I suppose until there's a jailbreak out for iOS 7.

But to hell was I going to pay $16 for some of the mobile versions of Final Fantasy.

This is where I think the Note 3 shines. I guess you could say the same thing for any of the phablets that are out there though. I don't want to bring my tablet around everywhere, but I always bring my phone. Although I'm not sure if the phablet sized phone would bridge the gap between phone and tablet.

Would be nice to do a phone swap with someone for a month, to try it out to see if I would even use a phablet like I think I would.

I have a note 2 and I've heard that the note 3 like the note 2 comes with a heavily bloated battery draining stock OS. Being android that's like a 5 minute jailbreak fix though because the hardware is awesome with a clean OS.

The battery tests all show the Note line being just about the best that there is for battery life, bloated OS or not.

Anyone played the add a line trick recently with Verizon to get a new phone at contract price?

Add a line, get new phone (Note 3) at discounted price. Switch phone to main line, and drop the added line a month later. Does that still work as a way to get around having to pay full price for phones?

I have the 920. Nokia's hardware is fucking incredible, as are a lot of their own apps(especially the camera stuff. Nokia Drive used to be awesome as well, but they keep making changes to it that makes it almost not worth using). The issues with their phones has everything to do with the app support for Win8. If all you want your phone for is to text, browse the web, and make occasional calls, it's an awesome phone. If you want to do any gaming, neat stuff with apps, etc? Forget it.

Thank for the reply. I rarely game on my phone except my daily fix of clash of clan, but I do use apps like shazam, some astronomy apps, etc. Guess I'll go check if there is any versions of them on win phone !

I have the Nokia 1020 and love it. Battery life blows my old IPhone away and the camera is incredible. Also, people can slam Windows Phone all they like but their start screen is the best one out there imho. Sure, I miss a few apps that I had on my IPhone, but most of the major ones are available for Windows as well, and again the hardware and user experience is excellent. Great battery life, great screen, slim, and feels SOLID. Camera frame snap on with extended battery handled all my picture needs on a recent trip as well.

As for the 1520, my boss has one and it's basically the 1020 with a smaller camera and bigger screen. Even better battery life than the 1020-- he gets two days charge and is on the phone all day. If you don't mind the form factor, or have big hands, get the 1520 over the 1020. It looks ridiculous in my hands held up to my head, but if you a tall/large person it looks relatively normal.

EDIT: One caveat-- if you need to support EAP-TLS (certificate authentication) at work in order to get on wi-fi, it is currently not supported on Windows Phone 8. No idea how the fuck they could not provide support for it, but supposedly it's coming in 3rd quarter 2014 as part of an "enterprise feature pack". It does however support certificate authentication for ActiveSync if your company requires it.

Im not sure if something has changed recently, but you would need to pay the early termination fee for that new line even if you moved the phone to an old line.

It may have changed, since the contract for the "account" is still active, but you are right, that doesn't make sense since each line has their own "contract".

Thank you very much for your insight. I don't have big hands nor am big, but I went to see the 1520 today and it's magnificient. The screen is gorgeous. But it's really big

Anyone have any experience with jail breaking their iPhone? Just had a quick general question... if jail broken, can I install downloaded apps?

Such as the final fantasy mobile games? or Infinite Blade series, and avoid having to pay crazy prices for them?

You do have to exercise some extra caution though, without really knowing the source of the cracked app you are putting yourself at risk of getting teh virus

If you're going to get the 1520, see if you can get an unlocked "rest of the world" model off the 'net somewhere. AT&T forced Nokia to remove Qi wireless charging from the device and replace it with an optional external PMA case, as well as reducing the storage from 32gb to 16gb. Assuming the reduced storage and wireless charging don't interest you, then the at&t model is obviously fine, but many people are pissed that AT&T made them gimp the device.
