My month old G2 already shit the bed. The headphone jack went crazy and since LG has a cutesy little animation when you plug in headphones it's constantly doing that animation and the audio switches back and forth between coming out of the phone speaker and the headphones. They are sending me a "refurbished" phone to replace it so we'll see if I can figure out why someone returned that one :p.

Other than that, it's been great. Love the screen, the camera, and the battery life. All huge improvements over my Galaxy Nexus. I never had a problem with the screen on the Galaxy Nexus until I got this phone and held them up next to each other running the same app. Makes the old phone look like total shit.

Double tap to turn on is still awesome. Buttons on the back of the phone is still stupid.

They've raised the back buttons more on the GFlex so they aren't so hard to use now. I agree the idea in general is still stupid though.

While rumor still is Google is ending the Nexus line, it sounds like it won't happen before the Nexus 6 which is due around June. I heard the Nexus 6 will have a built in fail-safe that will cause it to self destruct after 4 years so they can't form their own "emotional responses" to their environment.

Being a few months in on my BB Z10 I am enjoying it more- I still REALLY miss WebOS as its geastures and multi tasking are leaps and bounds better than BB10 and iOS7 - I suppose Droid 4.X+ is way diff than what I have last used (leaked 4) so I reserve judgement.

What would it take for you guys to leave your current OS for another? Is it the hardware? or the OS? etc.

At this point I have to assume that for 99% of people, it doesn't even matter what the iPhone 6 is going to feature, you're either gung-ho all-in for Apple regardless or you are the same for Android, and couldn't hardly be paid to switch to Apple. I just don't know hardly anyone that switches back and forth between the 2 phone ecosystems, at least not more than once. At this point, no one is being sold on an iPhone if they haven't liked previous ones.
I'm probably the outlier here but I'm not at all tied to any ecosystem. Ever since the OG Droid came out it has only been Android devices for me, yet I really don't app. Looking at my phone the only thing I use daily is Puzzle and Dragons which also exists on iOS. Corporate Exchange, Pulse, Spotify, Pandora are the only other things I've bothered to make shortcuts for and none of those are paid for or vary between ecosystems.

All I want is a decent size screen, smooth responsive interface, consistent experience across apps or devices, and for it not to shit the bed 1.5 years after buying it. Honestly what I probably want is an iPhone, but up until the 6 the screen size has completely turned me away. Samsung hasn't done any favors to get me to upgrade from the S3 to the S5 by refusing to get rid of the physical home button. And I still feel Android struggles with fragmentation across versions and hardware standards which impacts the app ecosystem and ability to create a consistently smooth user experience.

I'm being very old man grumpy about it all but it depresses me that my favorite phones were all from 10+ years ago and with all the innovation, quad core processors, on board graphics, amounts of RAM, I still can't get my dialer to come up without stuttering and missing a number when I hit the screen. I had fucking 30 TIE fighters trying to kill my A Wing back in the day on a damn 386 and you're telling me you can't load a god damn contact list to pick a number to dial without pausing for a second and jumping 10 names a time when I try to scroll?????!one! *shakes fist in air and waves cane*

The dialer is almost always an afterthought on smartphones, what rustled my jimmy's is bad logic in detecting if I am holding the phone up to my face.. of all things damn WebOS had that down, NEVER did I face dial or face mute face launch apps etc with my WebOS phones, I cannot say the same for all the druids ishits and even this BB.

You're probably going to have to reset the device to factory settings, totally wiping it

Erasing all content and settings will delete all the data from your device, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, calendar information, and any other data. All device settings are restored to their factory condition.

Note: If Find My iPhone is enabled, you need to turn it off in Settings > iCloud before you can erase your device.

To remove all settings and information from your device, tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Learn more about Erase All Content and Settings.

Can you not go to settings > iCloud > scroll all the way to the bottom and press "Delete Account" then log in with a new iCloud account? I just did this for a friend last weekend when her phone was using her daughters settings as they were sharing the same iTunes log in.

ugg just read this:

"The seller was supposed to wipe the device clean and restore as new prior to selling it:iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device

If they did not, then you have an expensive paperweight, until you get in touch with them."

Supposedly this is the solution to help with iPhones being stolen.

Lol! this was one of my pet peeves on phones. The lag time when bringing up the phone dialer or dialing from a contact. Lagged out so much as if I just opened up some 3d game.

iPhone fixed this for me btw.

Was on Andriod since the original as well, and making the switch to iPhone was pretty awesome.

Yeah, responsiveness I give high marks to Apple for, it's when I want to do anything other than explicitly allowed to do with the device that I run into troubles and are probably why I won't go back to that ecosystem.

Yeah, I'm on Verizon. So I'm not going to jump in headfirst and root it just yet, but the XDA forums does look like the place to start learning. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
XDA is definitely where you want to go.

Rooting can be really easy, or somewhat complicated depending on which device you have. You will probably have to use a Custom Recovery.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2641213This might bee a decent ROM, not sure exactly as I don't have experience with Note 3

If I were going with a Slim, bloat-light AOSP ROM I would use:http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2638270

I run an official SlimKat on my Galaxy Nexus and love it.

If you are going to stay with the stock kernel, try to avoid messing up your warranty, and stay with a TouchWiz based ROM you will probably want this recovery:http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2607258

Otherwise, to flash a ROM like Cyangogen or the AOSP styles I linked at the top, you will probably need a different recovery, which will flash a custom kernel and void the warranty.

Wow, lame. Thanks Apple!
Yeah in case you were hoping for something...there really is no hope. Carriers hate this shit too because when we do buy backs for phones if our reps didn't remove icloud and find my iphone, that phone is totally unsellable back to Apple.

Sorry
