I've heard about this. He's like a spider Maul or some shit and that his character has gotten better.

Maul as a character is pretty good when he's around in Rebels. I hate the way they brought him back in The Clone Wars though. It was cheesy as hell (yes, he had a spider-like body) and I didn't care for how he was used in that series at all.

We're talking about a character with the depth of a thimble in his movie appearance though. So ANYTHING to develop his character was better than that.

It was the only one that didn't look like a choreographed in front of a green screen plastic stick fight that had even the actors bored. I put that down to McDairmid putting in a real effort (McGregor did to) instead of collecting a pay check like the rest of the cast. Palpatine is the only part of the prequels that makes then even remotely watchable for me.

Anyhow, I place R1 and TFA behind Empire and barely above ANH and ROTJ (in that order), mostly due to Lucas's attempts to fuck with his own creation tainting them for me. But I have no gripe with anyone who feels differently about that order after empire, as long as none of the prequel garbage even enters the conversation. The original trilogy are great movies, but we saw them as kids and really only Empire has aged universally well.

Pretty much. What a disappointment to get this cool looking fucker as the new Darth, only to be left with Saruman and lung cancer droid for the next two.

I'll check out Rebels and Clone Wars eventually.

The stupid way Maul dies almost ME3's the whole thing.

Other than that the green screening when they are on the platforms is a bit bad.

I'm honestly torn on Maul because of how well he's been redeemed in Rebels. I didn't watch The Clone Wars episodes with him until after I had seen him in Rebels S2 and I've never read any of the Star Wars comics (he had his own story arc in those I believe) and while I like the Witches of Dathomir as a concept I'd have rather him stayed dead than strained credulity to the point that was necessary to recover a guy who was literally cut in half.

Were it not for Rebels. He's been money in that series.

And yeah, fuck Lucas for taking two of the best characters in TPM (Maul and Qui-Gon) and deciding go Ben Kenobi x 2 with them.

I don't know that I've ever seen so many varying opinions from so many people regarding the same topic all being wrong. Impressive.

Maul being worth a shit in the cartoons is just another example of someone making something decent out of an unpolished Lucas turd. To see the process in reverse, observe Boba Fett's demise in ROTJ after he was introduced well in Empire. Lucas got lucky modifying a few ideas he ripped off, but he was a terrible writer and director. I swear he figured Maul looking cool and showing up for the fencing match was all the effort he had to put into the character.

Merely allowing others the chance to prove what I have said several times; WTG isn't a one man exercise. Others are just as capable as I.

If anyone else ever gets better at WTG than you, I will petition the mods for name/avatar changes so we're still getting answers from royal. Just sayin ...

I prefer the Yoda vs. Dooku battle to the Palpatine one myself.

I agree. That was my #1 saber duel if I can't count the arena on geonosis. OB1/Quigon vs maul was #2. Vader vs younglings deserves a mention in this debate too though for being the most realistic and efficient.

+1 on your attack rolls can make all the difference in an otherwise even fight bro.

Also it's not like that high ground stupidity was that much worse than Maul just standing there watching as Obi-Wan sloooooowly flipped over him and then cut him in half. I mean the fight was over, Maul had the high ground.
Maul clearly lost because he stared into Ewan McGregor's baby blues and was busy imagining another kind of saber fight.

saw it today, a clear cash grab using star wars nostalgia. kind of interesting seeing them using the hyperspace more and more in space battles, but that's about it. seems to get easier and easier to kill large amounts of storm troopers for every movie.

I dunno about that. I'm pretty sure that after all this time Luke still holds the one man record with Lando and Wedge leading the tag team category. Starkiller Base might have been big but seemed sparsely manned and they had more of a lead time before the boom, so no joy for Poe.

Why are people even talking about ep1 2 3 in this thread!

Just saw it, awesome. Some small parts had a slowness but I couldent say it could be cut...so.

For a film with director or whatever change and reshoots- it was awesome.

Where was Vaders chain? His neck looked bad- the end was awesome- but could have used more!

Wife says best, I agree- better than TFA. Orig tril get best because, Classicness heh
