Don't kid yourselves, it started with the virgin "conceived by the force" shitting all over the spirituality and then went straight into renamed mitochondria power levels detected from a DBZ scouter.

There's a reason even George Lucas refused to ever acknowledge it again in episodes 2 and 3. For once in his life even he felt regret about it.
I thought his first regret was evidenced when he was seen sporting a "Han Shot First" t-shirt after the special editions came out.

For some reason I didn't even remember that part. Fuck you for reminding me. A virgin conceived by the force in the desert...

I always assumed Shmi was just a giant whore and was too embarrassed to admit she had no idea who the father was.

I don't remember them ever saying she was a virgin.

The virgin part isn't important, it's the fact that the father of her baby was an immaterial power that binds all things in the galaxy together. You know, instead of some random dude. I mean yeah she could have been lying, but George Lucas films aren't exactly known for their subtlety, so if someone says X happened, then X is what happened.

OK Cause I'm pretty sure watto was puttin it to her. Why else would he only let Anakin go free when he was obviously the more valuable slave?

The emperor hints at his master having the power to manipulate midichlorians to create life or cheat death when he's bamboozling Anakin into going dark side. His master, Darth Plagueis, as the story now goes was experimenting with creating life from scratch from the midis:

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Anakin_Skywalker_sl said:
Around 42 BBY, the Sith Lord Darth Plagueis and his Sith apprentice Darth Sidious were able to shift the Force and tip it towards the dark side after months of intense meditation. Plagueis sought to manipulate the midi-chlorians-microscopic lifeforms which lived symbiotically within all living things and allowed those with sufficient numbers of midi-chlorians to touch the Force-and use them to gain power over life and death. He was able to resurrect the Bith Darth Venamis (whom he had been using as a test subject for years) using only the power of the Force. Using his newfound power to heal his own body, Plagueis decided to take his powers further and reached out to the midi-chlorians across the galaxy in order to gain dominance over them, but the Force resisted his efforts and refused. In response, the midi-chlorians acted of their own accord and conceived a child within the Human slave Shmi Skywalker
That pretty much IS some "EU shit", but its hinted at in EP3 with the emp describing how his old master could do that shit. The further insinuation being that the force created Anakin as a counterbalance to the effect of this sith magic manipulating it in the first place. So that Anakin could return later to balance the shit back out.

Once again, don't get me wrong I'm not defending this mess. The virgin birth shit was dumb as hell from the get go.

Be careful what you wish for, you might wind up with Peter Jackson and even more CGI.

Wow all of that explanation was terrible. EU had some dumb shit, although they tried to come up with some "plausible" explanation for Anakin being "The Chosen One" by the end with their whole bs of The Ones being some higher form of Force Entity that kept the force in balance, and Anakin was supposed to replace the head one when he was dying, but refused. I heard this was in Clone Wars or something, dealing with the Mortis Monolith (spelling?). Definitely hokey shit, but made the tiniest bit more sense than "The Force conceived him but he went dark...sorry".

Edit: Should say, what you quoted was terrible Famm, not how you explained it.
