Nothing on screen. You can surmise that she had heard about it as part of the legends and mumbo jumbo concerning the jedi that people may have talked about in stories and such. People other than jedi have been aware that it was one of their abilities in the previous movies.
Watto's response comes to mind

Snoke and Kylo had sensed her awakening before, but she became aware of her own abilities when Kylo Ren tried to pull the map from her mind during their interrogation. Kylo struggled to read her but she just shrugged it off, looked at him weird and turned the tables reading HIS mind and learning about his insecurities and even found out about Darth Vader from HIS memories.

I thought they played that out really well in the movie without needing any internal dialogue, but a lot of folks on reddit don't see it that way. Anyways, Kylo Ren basically activated her by accident.

I'm just glad it's not a heaping pile of George Lucas puke like the prequels. That alone gets it 7/10.

A friend I saw the movie with was complaining afterward the Rey "suddenly had force powers to do a mind trick with"... it's like he wasn't even paying attention to the rest of the movie. I thought they spelled it out pretty clearly too. I'm not sure why so many people missed the progression

Because it's retarded. If you can just mind transfer force powers, why wouldn't Yoda just mind transfer his knowledge of the force to all his bros back in the day instead of spending years training? The movies establish that it takes years of training to become proficient in the force. This Mulan Jedi princess shit is retarded no matter how many excuses you try to make for it.

Because that's not what happened. There was no mind transfer

How many trained force users did Luke take down in episode 4? We don't really see Luke do anything impressive until episode 6.

Lived alone in a swamp for 30 years with only ghosts to talk to, then the first live person that shows up is a snot nosed brat who crashed his ship in the bog. Fuck with him too I would.

No they played that out in the movie... He was faking being retarded to stress out Luke into showing his impatience. Remember eventually Yoda sighs and drops the act and talks to obiwans ghost saying Luke is too impatient and cunty and shit.

Yea that was pretty well written as an act to push Luke along. Don't besmirch ESB, it's literally one of the greatest movies ever made.

But that shot was only one in a million, in a galaxy with a population in the trillions any average force user should be capable of doing that.

Luke uses the Force to steady his Death Star kill shot.
Yes but this was in the context of Vadar being about to kill Luke before he can make that shot. He only made the shot after being saved by Han.

One versus one in that fight Luke dies before he ever takes that shot.
