30 years pass between the end of the OT and the beginning of the trashquels and she was a half-trained force-user during a very chaotic time for the galaxy. I don't think anyone expected her to die of old age and she still has plenty of time for adventure between going off with Sabine to search for Ezra and her presumed death.

It makes more sense than him having survived all that time. It explains how he knew he could so easily swap bodies. It could explain the "I am all the sith" line if there were samples of past sith lords. The only things it doesn't explain are Rey saying she's all the jedi (other than her being ignorant and not knowing what was going on) and why his new body was all withered. But the passage from the book hints at that.

In the prequels he said there was a secret to everlasting life. I guess we all assumed the sith secret would just hold a corpse together forever. But maybe the secret was body swapping. All that said, It would have been better to bring back Darth JarJar as the big bad villian. I would have orgasmed right there in the theater.

Why would we applaud them *once again* taking a superior story, butchering it, and selecting the most obvious and trite things as the new canon?

I mean, they are fucking up worse than the EU and its quality as a whole was about a C+
