Sure, but Iger has been in the business long enough that I would assume he would know that fucking with something this much would make it unbearable rather than just bad.

I think the theory was that iger wanted the movie to please everyone because of all the blowback from Solo tanking and the star wars theme park underperforming so he lost confidence in whatever Jj came up with, good or bad, he took control of the movie away and forced a bunch of feelsgood nostalgia in there and it conflicted with much of what was already shot. When they released this turd it still underperformed so thats why Iger walked.

he mostly walked because they want Kennedy gone but her team threatened a building burning. She has made it clear to Iger and others she will talk if she's forced out.
They're hoping parks guy can find a way to get rid of her, then Iger contract is going to be renewed in 2021.

she was Speilberg's coffee girl for 30 years, she got a bunch of credits in famous classics so her resume looks impressive. she even duped Lucas into pushing her as head of Lucasfilm in the Disney deal. she either has extreme dirt on everyone which she uses as leverage or she is the most genius negotiator in history.

I finally watched this. The Last Jedi was a far worse movie, but I liked it a lot more than this one. I had zero expectations. It was like 3 hours of filler. Like if Lord of the Rings didn't have dialog, if that makes sense.
Folks were right, Abrams literally undid everything or blatantly made fun of TLJ. Which was a bit ironic, because 100% of this movie was stupid. I mean, well, maybe not Palpatine, but how they did it was soiled underwear on head retarded.
About half way through, I didn't realize I could be more bored watching Star Wars than I was during the political scenes in the prequels. So, congratulations on achieving new lows. And this is in the face of them trying so goddamn hard to be "exciting" with all the short cuts, and shit going on. The pacing of the post trilogy is completely wrong. The original trilogy moves a lot slower, and has a consistent pace. Prequels moved tooo slow, and had bits of fast action. TFA, TLJ, and especially ROS basically force fucks your face with visuals, explosions, and "hey look hey look star wars woooo".
I'm just glad it's over. I'll never watch this again.

I am a huge McDiarmid guy and a big Prequels guy. So for me to pass on seeing this movie ever is making a statement.
And I know a lot of other Palpatine guys who also passed on this movie as well. The box office doesn't lie. Joker outperformed the capstone of this franchise.

Stuff like white men fucked up Star Wars, Kennedy blaming Iger for betraying George Lucas, shifting responsibility to white men, and so forth. Disney didn't give women a chance, et al.
Iger was so involved in the day-to-day decision-making of TFA and Rise, that it would be relatively easy for Kennedy to burn the whole fucking building down.
Parks guy is going to try to deal with it-- we'll see what happens.

Pretty much, except it would focus on white male interference as being the reason why the women couldn't be as great. If Iger just fucked off everything would've been fine. She'd also cite the success of Star Wars franchise under her leadership and indicate that she's been forced out. That is another angle, she can tout the commercial success because success is relative.
Iger's hands were all over TFA. His exposure is huge.

Are they all so blind to reality as to think KK didn't have blame in this as well? I don't give a fuck if Iger is blamed because fuck that guy, but it is completely obvious to anyone remotely interested in Star Wars that the entire leadership structure put together for the movies should be jettisoned. The person or persons responsible for giving Rian Johnson a core movie should be purged from the business for the rest of their lives. Again, this is so obvious how could anyone believe otherwise?

Mamoa's wife is Lisa Bonet and he has a poetry career. He was never on team shitlord. Just watched this for the first time, holy shit what a terrible film.
I attempted to watch this in the morning and literally laughed at the opening scroll as Palpatine broadcasts to the entire galaxy his comeback. What is even the point of that? Film just rapidly fell apart afterwards and by the time Kylo Ren snatches Rey's necklace from across the galaxy with "Force Bond" during Space Burning Man, I just turned this shit off. I checked the time code and that was barely 25 minutes in. Movie was way too retarded.
Fired this back up tonight from morbid curiosity and this was just pure hell all the way through the end. Fucking force ghosts everywhere, people bringing each other back to life whenever they feel like, hundreds of random star destroyers just out of nowhere, a troop transport that just flies and lands on top of a star destroyer to unleash a cavalry charge. Did they know that the ship could just flip over?
