You seem to believe that if race was a factor in these comments, there would be some pretty serious implications, and I can't figure out why. To me, race being a factor in these comments is a totally benign fact, and it's weird to me that it sparked a multi-page argument. "Platitudes"? My "point of view"? What are you even talking about?
The journalist who prompted him for his comments specifically mentions "lingering racism." The main reason the story became a national sensation at all was because of its racial implications (and Stand Your Ground). Race was a factor in Obama's comments, and so what? Why is this such a bad thing if this is the case? Why expend so much effort arguing against this?

I guess I incorrectly assumed there was a reason people gave a shit about this that I just wasn't picking up on, and that you clowns didn't just spend like 5 pages arguing over something that is literally completely meaningless and benign with zero implications about anything one way or the other. The fact is that it was used. Don't care. There wasn't a person that heard his comment or read it that didn't think to themselves he only said the black kid looked like his kid might have because Obama is also black. Why does that have to be a bad thing? Obama is black, Trayvon was black. They look alike. Biden is white, Amanda Knox's roommate was white.
Race was a factor in the comments made. FACT.

In the end the president aligned himself with a drug addict(lean came out in autopsy) criminal(previous to incident), the naacp and other minority organizations all used the presidents comments to fuel their arguments which was all heavily race based, they constantly called stand your ground racist.
