According to IGN, current-gen gaming headsets may be useless for the Xbox One. Voice chat through headsets is dependent on connection through the controller, and since the port will be different on Xbox One controllers, gaming headset microphones will be useless.
I don't care about headsets so mine are all cheap pieces of crap - but it's pretty easy to understand someone who invested in a $200+ headset deal would be upset about not being able to use it because of an input change when fidelity is already basically perfect on the expensive ones.Supposedly there is a new standard/interface/input they are going to be using. I am ok with connection changes as long as they can justify the change with some sort of tangible difference/benefit/upgrade. I am not ok with changes like this if the answer is "because:megahurtz!!!"
They really should not have done this reveal in the way they did... They had to have known that these questions were coming, and to not have a coherent response just comes off as unprepared. A simple "we are not talking about that feature at this time and will have full details at E3" would be a million times better than the conflicting responses that are coming up now. And they have completely taken the heat off of Sony in the process. When you really think about it, we don't know much about the PS4 other than what's in the box right now. Soooo many unanswered questions.
I do enjoy seeing people from both sides completely losing their shit right now though.
Yeah, that was the idea. DANCE, MONKEY, DANCE!I did all the hard work for you!
The teams will be more efficient by virtue of repeatedly using the same engine. You sortof see that now with Unreal. What is really needed is a revolutionary improvement in tools and who knows if/when that'll happen.Hopefully the development tools will get better this generation. It seems the big guys are going to be sticking with 1 in house engine for each studio, so I can only assume that the tools to develop on said engine are going to get pretty good. The industry cant support 500 person teams for every game in development. Hopefully we see studios scaling back team sizes and moving into more projects. But since that makes sense and seems logical it will never happen!
Vita just taking another step closer to just being an expensive PS4 accessory. Was hoping for remote play through any Windows 8 device for X1 but that doesn't seem to be happening (though, could still be announced via Skype).Hey look, Sony can still make stupid decisions too:

I guess it's nice for the small amount of people that actually have a Vita, but that has to be a pain in the ass for developers that don't want anything to do with the Vita
