They are not true. The original quote stated 5 million systems by the end of FISCAL 2013, which is actually March 2014. That will still be difficult to do, but it's a little more reasonable. It basically doubles the time frame they have to sell those units compared to if it was just the end of the year.

And take this for what it's worth, but I have some friends that are fairly high up at Gamestop corporate, and was talking to one of them this weekend and for PS4 they are planning on having the launch, and then only 1 more shipment of systems after launch, before Christmas. They don't know when that shipment would be, but needless to day they aren't planning on getting in new shipments every week or anywhere close to that. Sounds like it'll be damn hard to get one before Christmas if you aren't in on the launch shipment.

No I was attempting to put things in perspective before we all jump on the moral high horse. I can't name you a company that has a camera in your house that watches you because no company has been able to do it. What I will say is I'd much rather have a camera watching me in my living room and improve the working conditions of the poor cunts that make my shoes/shirts/phone/everything in asia. Who's the asshole now? The guy that doesn't want a camera in his living room that can be turned off or the guy that is ok with that but wants to help the livelihood of thousands? Because that's what you are saying to me right now. You are saying a camera in my house is TOO far but I've got no issues watching peoples basic human rights being taken away so I can have a cheap smart phone or some sweet nikes.

So please just stop the preaching. I understand Microsoft are fucken cunts and I'm outraged at what they tried to pull but I've purchased products from companies who have done a lot worse. So have you.

To be fair, I've got similar contacts still - and the same things get said for EVERY launch - expect the launch shipment and one other before Christmas - and it's been untrue at other times. Hell, I remember getting weekly shipments on Dreamcasts back when they released even though we were only supposed to ever get the launch + one more. (And my store was super rural mind you)

Only because I thought it was a "kinect is watching you!" joke for the longest time. I didn't actually believe they wanted to use that shit for marketing purposes, but that blows my mind. I've actually heard lots of 360 apologists say they LOVE the ad filled dashboard because it informs them of deals they want.

Fuck. That. I'm one of those people that HATES advertising and rampant consumerism. I don't watch cable TV, usually downloading or using netflix instead. I listen to satellite radio if I do, and I've installed enough adblocks into my browser that I don't feel totally inundated with ads 24/7.

When I go to my friends houses and see them just sitting there taking in ad after ad while they watch TV, it always makes me wonder how the fuck people can sit there and spend hours watching sexy-people-cramming-hamburgers-into-their-mouth ads and other terrible shit.

I know it's weird and most people don't give a shit, but I hate having advertisers creeping into every aspect of my daily life like that.

I think they plan for worst case scenario, I'm sure Sony probably tells them they'll get more systems, but can't tell them when, or how many. So all they know is there will be at least 1 shipment, but anything beyond that is totally up in the air.

This is pure rightouofmyass speculation but having one big launch shipment(maybe two) then holding back stock while everyone in that first wave basically serves as free hype building advertising until the Christmas rush when everyone wants to get their hands on the extremely popular and hard to get crazy prices on eBay ps4.

I am definitely upset about it. I have said so before. I postedallof this information beforemonths agowhere it was confirmed by another source and yet lots of people brushed it over.

I even recently said that I believe that Microsoft deserves to be punished for their bullshit and that people should not buy an Xbone because of their behavior. Sadly, I got laughed at for this notion. At least I'm not the only one calling their bullshit now. People should not buy Xbones and they should not support Microsoft, they do not deserve your money and this is just one of themanyreasons why.

If this does happen, for MS and/or Sony, then it is likely more of a happy coincidence thing than something that either of them would do on purpose. Shipping enough consoles out and the time between each shipment is probably 95% a logistics thing between manufacturing, assembly, and shipping substantial enough batches at a time. There is a ton of involvement and work between all of that stuff.
