I'm curious how much he can potentially make? If it's a set amount basically it will be up to him where he ends up as I doubt any team would pass on him at this point. Granted I know very little(basically none) on what undrafted players make.

What Can LaEl Collins Earn as an Undrafted Free Agent - Over the Cap

Every undrafted rookie is locked into signing a three year contract. The three year contract will contain the minimum Paragraph 5 salary in each year, which will equal payouts of $435,000 in 2015, $525,000 in 2016, and $615,000 in 2017. These are the same numbers as rookies drafted after the 3rd round and many of the players drafted in the third round, so it is not a major loss for Collins of any player who was not projected to be a 2nd round pick.

Greg Hardy and La'ell Collins are gonna be roommates so they can share notes. Im also convinced some shit is gonna change about this and not let players be signed under these conditions in the future. Either to make sure they hard cap how much they can earn or just disallow it period....I will be interested to see the terms because no way this kid signs without a lot of money somehow making it to the table.

No fucking way other teams will be cool with Dallas getting a 1st round pick without spending one.

I was reading last week that there's a set amount of money that teams can allocate to signing bonuses for UDFA's on top of their salaries. So he'd likely get the Cowboys' entire allocation of signing bonus. I forget how much that would tend to amount to, but he'll still make less than he would have as a first or second round pick.

Now there is nothing in the process that prevents a team from guaranteeing large amounts of salary to UDFA. This is how many teams lure a UDFA while complying with the signing bonus rules. It is not uncommon to see a UDFA receive a salary guarantee equal to a Practice Squad salary (slightly over $100,000) and in some cases double that. For Collins that presents an opportunity to attempt to receive a three year guarantee of $1,575,000. That guarantee would be equivalent to a late 2nd rounders guarantee through his signing bonus and salary guarantee.

Wonder how Dallas decided to handle it.

Once La'el was in the clear he was going to get consideration. Anyone could have drafted him but all 32 teams had their chance and took a pass. After that, it's all about the pitch. Jerry is a salesman, first and foremost. Last few years he's let other people make personnel decisions but when they need to make a sale, they know who to send in. RoMac knows the deal. Jerry called him from fucking Turkey of all places to make his pitch.

Not familiar with this kid. If he's first round talent, why was he undrafted?

Anything less than 1 year for both brady and bellicheck would mean the pats got off light. I don't necessarily agree with suspending belicheck but there is the saints precedent, and bill has been punished for cheating before, whereas that was Sean's first offense. the NFL was making a statement with that 1 year suspension. If they were serious about it, they have to make the same statement again. Also, much like the suspensions of the saints players, the brady one probably won't hold up, but there will be no appeal for Bill.

I know, right? it's way too easy to just have a player be linked to a murder case days before the draft then have them be denied removal from that draft so they can then go undrafted and then signed as an udfa for less than if he had just been picked where he was projected to go in the first place.

His ex-girlfriend was killed and a few days before the draft the police said they wanted to speak with him. That scared everyone off, but it was just procedural and there was nothing to indicate he was involved other than the fact that he used to date her. Now that he's been cleared it's been a feeding frenzy since he's early first round talent
