About running backs, 30 is usually when the abuse of the position starts to set in, especially for blocking backs and power runners. Having a great QB can extend the lifespan of a RB, of course, but even then you really get maybe 3-4 good years out of them. AP seems to be the lone exception to this in the modern era, though you could make a good case for Watters, too.
How is AP the exception when he isn't even 30 yet?

He is the exception to the three to four good years rule, not the age 30 rule. The last two decades are jam packed with RBs who had 3-4 solid years and then basically vanished. Rice might be another one to have an extended career, if he had not taken up wife beating as a hobby.

@Ganlak-
Do you think the rest of the Legion of Boom are not going to want to renegotiate for more money ahead of the end of their deals? Defensive backs are some of the most greedy and fickle fuckers around and with good reason. Ones who can actually back up their bullshit (Sherman is in this category) are rare and worth the investment. And I have seen enough teams picked apart after a loss like this (including my own when Holmgren shit the bed against Denver) to know how this will play out, especially with the general attitude of these guys. If you guys don't get ahead of this and secure all the key parts of the D with long term deals, you will go from lockdown to "bend but don't break" faster than you can say Chicago Bears.
They are all under contract for the next 2 years maybe more with the exception of Maxwell who we might lose to FA this year. Why do we have to redo their deals immediately? I have faith that Carroll and our GM will continue to draft well and replace any talent that we do lose to FA as best they can. While also continuing to make sure that the core guys stick around.

I am a bit worried about them imploding over the loss, but while not on the same level as an SB loss, the loss to Atlanta inspired them to stomp the ever living fuck out of Denver. I have a feeling that they will feel similarly inspired and I think the leadership in the locker room is too strong to let this loss tear the team apart.

Rice's decline had already started though. Grimm's post about a "magic number" of touches (carries and receptions) per year for RB's has been an idea that has floated around for a couple of years now.

Whoever posted only 1500 yards and 10 TD's combined between Lynch and Murray next year is crazy though. Barring injuries limiting their games/carries there's no way those numbers aren't pathetically low.

There is a reasonable chance Lynch walks away. If we had won on Sunday I would have put that chance at about 90%. I know Pete likes to but a shiny face on it but I don't think he and Marshawn see eye to eye on a lot of things.

I agree however if he plays barring injuries that number by Azeth is him just being hugely retarded.

I'd think Murray is more likely to get hurt really. I guess there's always a chance Lynch goes to a shitty team and sees his numbers drop as a result, but I don't think it would drop that much. Obviously if they both missed half a season or something those numbers would make sense, but I think if both guys play at least 12 or 13 games plus there's just no chance they combine for something that low.

Cowgirls have a solid OLine now. No way I see Murray getting less then 1k yards unless someone takes him out with a sniper rifle.

Really strange thought I randomly had yesterday...if you swapped Wilson and Luck for each other, what do you think happens to Seattle and Indy as they're constructed currently? For both teams...better, worse, or about the same?

I think both teams get worse? You're putting the better passer on the team with no receiving weapons and the scrambling guy on a team not built for him.

Both teams fall on their ass, though Seattle probably fares a bit better due to superior defense. I don't think Wilson would have success in Indy at all.

Yeah, I think Luck does fine in Seattle. He is an underrated scrambler and while he might not be as elusive as Wilson, he has enough escapability to survive behind that O-line and make some plays. The only question would be if he would be happy only throwing the ball 20 times a game because I don't see Seattle altering their game-plan much.

On the flip side tough to say how Wilson does in Indy's system, I think some adjustments would have to be made to their gameplans for him to have a chance of success.

Indy is a soft team and it stems from their coach and style. Luck isn't a soft player and neither is Wilson but no young player like that is enough to change the teams identity.

Carol caught a ton of flack for his calls. But that team plays incredibly hard and it is a big contributor to why they are good and will continue to be. Opposite is true in Indy, pagano will ride lucks arm to a long mediocre career unless luck just goes other worldly like Rodgers did for a bit.

They don't pump crowd noise into the speakers at Sunlife because what little fans that do show up to the game would be upset with all the commotion.
