So I canceled, got my money out of the game, and cancellation is part due to a busy couple months coming up but I just didnt find the pvp engaging at all, its sadly just another keep flipping game and the combat isnt that smooth atm. I dont think combat is unfixable tho, so I hope they get their shit together. I think the pvp could be fixed, but I don't think it will be, the DAOC model can probably work, but the people in charge don't seem to grasp any part of what motivates pvpers, or atleast what motivates me and my friends, maybe the anonymous zerging back and forth for the glory of blue/red/yellow team or farming silly points to buy gear is enough for some people.

So Infinite Batswarm nerfs are in the slow pipes (next week), some PR bullshit, fanservice and teasing and fuck you europeans, fighting bots is more important than giving you Eu located server right now. Welp.

I'm curious what could possibly be the hold up of putting the EU server in Europe. Hiring people, leasing space? I would have thought this would have been set up way before the game even came out.

Got my refund for this game. Initially they told me I was beyond my grace period and couldn't get a refund...so I just kept emailing them, and they finally just gave it to me.

And then you spam it. And then 5 seconds later it swaps like 5 times really quick and you're dead.
Do you think that is an indication of standard latency hiccups or a software bug?
Modularization of the Hero engine, essentially the same combat issues that plagued SWTOR, server side animation registration prioritization.
Maybe so, but if the Hero engine is to blame for weapon swap lag, then it would be affecting NA players and Euro players evenly. That isn't the case though since weapon lag is affecting the Euros significantly more than the NA players, which is why their problem almost certainly has to be latency related due to the long distance involved.

Whatever you say. I guess ESO's engine really is perfect. You sure won this argument.
Nowhere did I say ESO's engine is perfect. I just think the weapon swap problem, at least for the Euros, is primarily due to the fact they are on the other side of the world and by default they are going to have to deal with higher latency.

I have that issue and I'm in the US. Most of the people talking about this issue are US based too...

I think they are holding up the Euro server until they assess how many subs they are losing in a few days. I think they are now anticipating a massive exodus from this game. But I also think they are anticipating a lot of pre-sales for the console version. Hopefully this will offset the lost PC subs.

Weapon swap issues present themselves in times of extreme server load. For the EU's simply being on a 300ms ping US based server is enough of an environment to count as an extreme version of server load, especially if you're a button masher like I am and flooding the server with commands.

Either way, prioritizing animations over ability firing is a bit of a mistep here, culminating in the weapon swap pump fake issue.

Didn't people have similar complaints about SW:TOR? I didn't play it long enough to know if they ever fixed it, but I think the Hero Engine must have some inherent flaws in this regard.

Absolutely, if you spammed abilities too much they would double-pump or pump-fake multiple times in a row.

It's not fair to call ESO's engine the Hero engine, as they took the skeleton of the hero engine and made their own from it. You can tell they kept the server side animation firing though.

Nope! I have sources that say they didn't use the Hero Engine at all!

This may explain why I am not having a major problem with weapon swap delay like you are. I am so used to playing games with global cooldowns that I don't spam ability buttons. I press a key, wait for the ability to fire and animation to complete and then I press another key.

You definitely never played a rogue in WoW.

I've got quick hands and a short attention span, what can I say?

I played an enhancement shaman in WoW. Every class still had to deal with GCDs. It's been a few years since I played WoW but IIRC the GCD varied between 0.5 to 1.5 seconds with most abilities having a 1 second GCD. That was typically enough time for the ability animation to complete. Are you implying rogues had abilities with animations that lasted longer than the GCD?
