Given the fact it is on Syfy, I would be shocked if it gets more than 2-3 seasons, even if it is one of the best things they have put out in years.

The ratings for this show are a crime. I feel that there's either a ton of people watching this online, or there will be people in a few years going "damn that was good... why didnt they make more than two seasons??"

The ratings are about the same forExpansevs 12 Monkeys, hitting 1 million viewers for an episode is rather good for Syfy these days as most shows bounce between 500k-800k and jump to 900k+ for cliffhangers and finales.

Well, they totally bumblefucked the "release" of the show and how they handled the first few episodes, so I'm sure that didn't help.

That said, I can totally see this show becoming a "Firefly", in that it was cancelled way too soon.

Yes, the way the handled the release really dropped the show from my radar. I didn't start watching it until episode 4ish when I was talking with one of my friends about random new TV shows. It is unfortunate because this is one of the more interesting series I have watched in a long time.

I've listened to all the books so far in this series on audiobook. They are all great, but for some reason they switched the reader in book 4 and it screws shit up (especially Avasarala). They go back to the original reader for book 5 though.

Firefly was a different kind of show. This is more of a political thriller drama set in space, but shown from the perspective of the folks who don't understand the big picture.

2 hour season finale tonight. Also if you have skipped the X-Files, watch last nights episode it was fantastic - a monster of the week episode, had some great guest stars like the indian dude from silicon valley and the manager from flight of conchords / what we do in the shadows

Firefly is better. Would be hard to top that show. Firefly had a lot more character chemistry than this show has. That being said, this show is certainly worth watching. It has incredible effects with a good sense of realism. Characters tend to act as you would expect them to act in the situations presented. The story feels a little slow but it does move along well enough. I am curious to see how this plays out.
