My 2 cents:

I purposely waited until the end and binge watched in 1 day.

Every point made earlier in these threads is basically how I feel....great first 2 episodes, and the rest got a little lazy.

And how many Penny Dreadful, Making a Murder, The Affair, True Detective style openings are we going to have? (Spooky music along with collage of images...it's been done to death)

7/10, all about John Turturro for me. Dude is just a great character actor. Agreed though that it didn't seem like there was a main character.

I felt like it could have been a lot better but there were some pretty good episodes.

He was very good (should get nominated for an Emmy) but part of me makes me wonder how Gandofini would of done in that role or even Deniro before he backed out.

I'd give it 7/10, maybe 7.5/10. I really wanted to see who did it and it seems to indicate who at the end, thankfully. Sometimes I like the "but maybe Naz DID do it" type of ending, but I didn't want it with this show. I was kind of shocked Freddy let Naz go. After that speech I thought Naz would end up getting framed for that murder Freddy did inside or have tapes implicating him smuggling heroin. At the very least I expected Naz getting a call from Freddy saying "Here's what I need you to do..." or something.

John Turtoro was amazing. I really liked Box, too. Especially at the casino, I laughed really hard when he said "he forgot his hat" in kind of a "this fucking guy" way.

Also True Detective Season 1 villain was the Judge. Good ol' Errol.

Honestly I think Turturro physically makes more sense for the role. While the other two might be stronger on screen presences, Turturro has a bit more of the every man look with a bit of frailty thrown in to sell it. I'm trying to picture the other 2 in the closing argument scene and with the way the character was written and needed to be played, I think Turturro nailed it in a way the other two might not have been able to. They could have been better in different ways, but for whatever reason I just think that character needed more of a character actor and not a big name leading man star.

Completely agree, Turturro killed it. Perfect fit for the character. Gandolfini is a dominating guy on screen, it's hard for me to imagine him in that role?

Gandolfini wouldn't have been the John. He would have been the Pimp.

Problem solved.

I wasn't even all about this show from the start like some in the thread. I actually thought the middle picked up when they started to introduce new suspects. Then they went full on Scooby Doo on us by introducing the "good" character and then 180 "evidence outta fuckin nowhere!" bullshit and then a horribly unsatisfying ending.

I don't get the hate. I enjoyed this show. Would give it a 7/10, I think. The ending was better than I thought it was going to be.

It's fine, it isn't a bad show. There's just a ton of other amazing shows on right now and I spent my time on this when I could have been watching interracial tranny midget cuckold porn.

My girlfriend and I have been watching this and Ray Donovan on Sundays. This season of Ray Donovan is so retarded, it made this show look even better.

I'd probably give it lower. More like 6/10. It had me gripped for a bit but in the end nothing felt tied up.

I'd go 4/10.

The whole murder mystery only existed in the first and last episodes, and the whole exposing the system was so over the top that it was just shitty writing.

Also, the female lawyer thing made no sense at all. She just decides to throw her career away and make out with him out of nowhere and smuggle him drugs? Wtf?

That was probably the worst part for me. I don't feel like they developed that situation enough to suddenly have her smuggling drugs into prison.
