Thats why I brought up all the flaws of the one track shot earlier, where were all these people last season. Why werent they bitching about Rust going to the ghetto when he could have just kidnapped the guy in the beginning and never had to put his life in danger?
Because the acting was so good things like that were secondary. VV's parts were painful to watch, bordering on downright embarrassing for the first 4-5 episodes that the story flaws were far more apparent. Last 2 episodes, especially ep 7 were great though.

I wonder how much of this is people looking to niggle anything they can because this isn't the exact same as Season 1 and how much of it is just sheer retards who couldn't track a fart in an elevator.
I want to rewatch Season 1 and pick everything apart and see the reactions of the people who are acting out of butthurt.
I know you think you figured out but I am actually holding back a ton on my dislike of S2.

I was the one thinking this should be a split thread because they aren't the same show at all. This isn't my first show that has this kind of gimmick where each season is independent. Some of us actually watch a lot of TV.

This is what I watch now, 93 of these shows are recurring.

Series - 156
Episodes - 9498

I just don't get why our remaining true detectives aren't laser focused in on the california train land deal. Expose that to 10 newspapers and TV stations, how one corporation has bought up massive amounts of land cheaply that it dumped toxic waste on and now it stands to make a huge profit on it from federal money and has ties to the russian mob. They don't even need their "secret" documents with "signatures", it would all be in public records. Bam, that shit would get shut down faster than Welfare in Texas and all the people in the top would get sent to federal ass pounding prison.

but instead ani (pizzaman really) seems to be just muddling around trying to tie everything together for no real purpose. just straight up lie and tell the politicians you have the tapes from the hooker parties and they will line up super fast to rat each other out.
Newspapers?! Yeah right! Not after that one poor reporter got so assaulted they un-published last weeks news story so hard it was never mentioned in the show again! I bet no news outlet in the world would be interested in action that hot!

Better to hunker down in a motel, finally talk about the 'coincidences' you kept encountering as if maybe they were clues all along, and fuck each other because nothing gets a lady in the mood for pointless fucking like lecturing a kidnapped whore about how women are more valuable than for just fucking!

Yeah I cannot imagine why Burres would be there helping his partner in crime Holloway. Totally doesn't make sense!1!
This has plenty of realism but apparently not enough bread crumbs for people to follow along. Need to get Big Bird on there to explain every scene for some of the posters here.
This shit is unthinkable but you aspie faggots can read comics , Sci Fi, and fantasy. Yeah okay.
If people were so wrong you'd post something constructive and objective to shut them up instead of just calling everyone who has issues with the show aspie faggots.

My tactic is usually to post a wall of text dissecting the merits of the show, as that seems to enrage people plenty, but perhaps just calling everyone aspie faggots and retards (Xevy) is the better tactic.

Dear popsicledeath:

I hate what you've done to this thread. Learn to use commas. Think of commas as an opportunity to take a breath and consider the bullshit you're about to spew forth. Intelligent posters understand the necessity of being clear and concise.

I've enjoyed season two of True Detective. It appears to me that your enjoyment of this season involves trolling this forum, arguing with anyone who disagrees with your assessment of the season, and generally being an asshole.

I find it unfortunate that this is my first contribution to this thread.

I just caught up on the last four episodes and I still think this show is good. It's even gotten better than the last time I said it was good. It's not great, but it's good and I would watch a 3rd season, should they make one.

So, Chanur has a 2 page argument with several posters that aren't me, basically calls everyone who disagrees with him dumb and an aspie faggot because they have an opinion that differs from his, and you call me the asshole?

Maybe weigh in on the actual discussion? What do you think, was Burris standing by that exit an obvious plot conveniences or was it totally realistic because Game of Thrones has dragons?

Bitching about commas on a message board was pretty funny though. Ice, burn.

Weak. I'd be more likely to challenge him to actually prove his mastery of commas. He wouldn't, of course, because accusing someone of misusing commas is hellacool, but then discussing them is some aspie faggot shit, and nobody wants that. Then I'd start replying to everyone's posts by correcting their grammar and signing it with 'courtesy of popsicledeath and Valorath the Commanator.' But hey, we're all friends here right and there's no need for that kind of thing!

It isn't the mystery that I am bothered by it's the various poorly designed plot elements just to advance the story.

This blackwater crew or whatever they call themselves is now running security for Calisto. They weren't at the party and they weren't brought in last minute because gay dude was running the long con on Paul. The thing is the gay dude was checking up on him way too earlier for them to have cared about him being part of any investigation.

That is just one of many convenient options they just waved a magic wand at to make it happen. I dislike it when they do that in any TV show, movie, or book and I see it a lot so this isn't a huge dig on True Detective and why I don't bring up 99% of the problems I have with this season. They can only do so much with the time they have and in order to make sure us the viewers know what's going on sometimes it needs to be ham fisted. The actions don't take place in a vacuum though and you should write your shows better if you have to wave magic wands for plots to move forward.
This may have been answered somewhere in this thread but Woodrugh's lover was checking up on him because of all the publicity he got when the actress accused him of soliciting a bribe/blow-job. Remember the press being all over him at the hotel? That's what Horatio was looking into; that he wasn't talking about the desert.

I dislike the show's propensity to be blatant and obvious, i.e. Woodrugh's gay, Ani's been molested. the kid isn't Velcoro's son, the Russians are coming, the Russians are coming (for Frank), etc. I don't agree that it's hand-waving at all, though. Although I do like it, really, this season does commit that greatest of Hollywood sins: it's mediocre.

It may have been said already, however this season had way to many characters and to many episodes (out of the 8 total) wasted on character explanation and development. I must admit the last episode and the 15 mins of the episode from 2 weeks ago has grabbed my attention again. Its to bad they did not start the climax sooner in the series....

Dat comma usage tho.

I ended up stopping watching after the second episode, but after reading this plot explanation/recap I'm glad I did.True Detective Season 2: A guide to the plot of this confusing season.

Will this get picked up for a third season?

I didnt find it to many characters, the way they throw names out was a pain. Ivar was mentioned twice over the seven episodes and it was hard to hear
