I went to church with my mom last year and the pastor talked about his appointment at the orthopedic office for almost the entire time. Rustled.

Must be a non Catholic/newer thing. We always got stories that were basically modernized parables with very little political preachiness. Not saying that there isn't because the last couple Popes have been shit.

some of those stories go even further back than that. Some of those stories originated with the Sumerians. circa ~5000 BC

We want to be told how the stories apply to our lives. That is the purpose of the homily.

Not surprised some of our Protestant brothers are talking about doctor appointments during their services. They lost the plot a long time ago.

I went to a protestant church around high school and a little after. I guess I'm in the super minority. Preacher was from out of state and the same town my parents were from. I don't think he ever went fire and brimstone and we went to the circle track dirt races together and the only thing "odd" was we sat in the non alcohol section which was where people sat that didn't want to be involved in a fight lol.
