So you think that China and Vietnam etc would be BETTER off if the US wasn't buying a ton of shit from them? You know those factories aren't forcing anyone to work there right?
Given the prices the western world pays third world countries for their resources and workforce are extremely low, I don't think that's so far fetched.

You don't think our wealth comes out of thin air, right?

Have you ever been to the States? I think the people you are imagining as this Bundy bunch are prime Wal-Mart clientele.
I figured they were the Whole Foods organic food buying yoga hippie types. Didn't you see all the Priuses lined up in the protest pictures?

Don't ask them what Nevada would be like if the Federal Govt didn't finance the hoover dam and the highway/rail system.
Without the Federal Government the whole state would still be part of Mexico.

This all happened in NV, I'm sad noone called up some of the DARPA boys and turned this into a live fire demo of some of of the new nonlethals.

"Hello? Yes, we would like 1 of your mass infrared machines, ohh and that thing that does the subsonics, lets get that too. That way, when all the protesters all feel like their skin is on fire (hehe, they really should have worn hats, it gets hot out here!) they can cool down by pissing themselves, projectile vomiting, and then falling in it."

I don't know what you think DARPA does, but I can assure you that if DARPA sent its latest technologies at a bunch of rednecks in the mountains it would be hilarious and expensive but not really useful.

Well, he wanted federal agents to come lay down their arms beneath an American flag -- while at the same time making an issue out of personally refusing to recognize the legitimacy of the federal government.

So that's not all that surprising.

There's a difference between the country of the United States and the people running it. I can understand that.

He was just expressing his first amendment rights with his second amendment rights granted by a constitution he doesn't believe in.

Rancher, not only were you wrong, but you belligerently stuck to your guns and insulted your elected government in the process. Congratulations, you are an American.

At this point I think the best way to solve this issue is hand all the land back to the ancestral claimants. I am guessing bundy and his friends are going to be kinda annoyed having to deal with all the various indian tribes that would now own most of nevada.
Ans the people who lived there before the Indians?

As I said before, are you going to give your house back to the "ancestral claimants"? And which ones? Everyone on the planet is living in a place where somebody else used to live and in most cases it has changed hands by force a few times or a few hundred times.

That's the point. Bundy's argument is just as absurd. Especially since it turns out he lied about his family owning the land for 150 years

Exactly if they start throwing around ancestral claimants Bundy is asking for absurdity to happen. Because the real direct ancestral claimants would be indian tribes of those areas and then possibly whoever was there before them although that would get harder to discover as a lot of those ancient tribes simply don't exist any more or have any but the most trace blood line representation.
