It's called getting off my ass and exercising. You should try it!

Edit: Seriously, though. The only reason I can eat like I do is because I spend 5 mornings a week in the gym (and have been for upwards of a year; 3 days a week for a year before that) and ride my bike almost every weekend. If I didn't eat the shit that I do I'd be shredded like Ossoi by now.
Hey I exercise!

I too have an insatiable hunger much like yourself (have not met another like myself), and I workout. I think the difference is I don't gorge like that once a week. I'm not shredded though.

1560 calories a day for a 2lbs/week loss. Most of the work week I'm pretty good, but weekends are tougher.
Shocking that you're miserable. Cut back to a pound a week, you're not obese anymore and two pounds is way too much to lose every week now. You're also burning the shit out of lean tissue which will keep you looking fat longer

he also completely ignored my post about carbs being an important tool for muscle building.

If carbs are so bad then why do fitness supplement sites sell so many carb powders?http://www.myprotein.com/our-range/b...ohydrates.list
I ignored it because we're talking about two different things. Weight loss is not the same as muscle gain.

Carbs do help with muscle gain and may be optimal, but you can gain muscle without carbs. It's a supplement rather than an essential nutrient.

I didn't mean to sound like a dick. Do you log those cardio workouts? That should bump up your total calories.
Yep, I do. And yes, it increases my total. Although I don't get as much of an increase any longer since I've gone from a fatty to a lesser fatty. And, of course, I don't get as many base calories as I used to when I started.

Nobody thinks eating a ton of sugar is good for weight loss, that's one of the biggest reasons his zealotry is mocked.
Five minutes on google and it's obvious you're wrong.

USDA guidelines.

Jesus, just look at the fucking cover! What do they show off as healthy food? Fruit and Bread!

FRUIT

and

BREAD

That's sugar and fiber.

Center for Disease Control

According to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2010, a healthy eating plan:
.Emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fat-free or low-fat milk and milk products(EAT SUGAR WITH FIBER)
.Includes lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs, and nuts
.Is low in saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol, salt (sodium), and added sugars(FAT IS BAD cut back on extra sugar)
.Stays within your daily calorie needs

So I've had it with my (Gold's) gym, and am going to sign up elsewhere. In addition, since they're literally the only business I've come in contact with over the past 15 or more years that 100% consistently do the exact opposite of good customer service, I plan to do my very best to make sure as few people I come into contact with will patronize them. So, here I am urging you all to not give Gold's Gym a fucking dime. Worst fucking business practices I've encountered, jesus christ.

Anyhoo, luckily the gym I'm planning to sign up at also has a set of rings, which is basically my biggest/only requirement, since most everything else I need is standard. Bonus is they have a cross-fit type area off to one side with bumper weights and such, which Gold's didn't have, so I think I might come out ahead in the long run (despite losing a life-time cheap membership, that I had actually planned to keep for my forseeable lifetime, until this most recent bullshitty episode).

TLDR: Fuck Gold's Gym, don't give them any money. Ever. Urge your friends who don't read this thread to do the same. Thanks and have a good night.

I just wish my moobs would go. But they'll probably be the last thing...

Down 15 lbs. since May. A bit behind my goal for actual weight lost, but I've gained a bit of upper body muscle mass, so I'm not disappointed.

Except we are not, read my post again

Restricting carbs is necessary for someone overweight (20% bf+), as this will improve their insulin sensitivity. Once they get leaner (e.g closer to 15% bf) then you can reintroduce carbs by carb cycling (higher carbs on weightlifting days, lower carbs on rest days). This is optimal for fat loss and muscle gain.

Once someone is leaner, there is simply no reason to restrict carbs.

This was exactly the model I used to drop from 23% body fat to sub 10%.

As someone has told you before, - you've lost a lot of weight by restricting carbs - congratulations. However, carbs are not the devil and you could easily get away with reintroducing some carbs as long as you still make sure to maintain a calorie deficit.
Do you really need me to explain why adding muscle at the same time as losing fat (which is easily achievable for new lifters) is beneficial?

It could be as simple as 50g of dextrose in a post-workout shake and then 200-300g of sweet potato. There's no reason to ignore clean carb sources as long as a deficit is maintained. And there's no reason for anyone bulking (provided they're lean enough) to ignore carbs either.

Still 185lbs, but looking and feeling better. Getting stronger, both in cycling and weights. I can bust off 10 pull ups now.

We're not talking about the same thing. I'm talking about people with more than 50+ pounds to lose, you're talking about someone trying to cut down to a low body fat percentage while working out. Different situations. Why?

Insulin sensitivity / resistance makes all the difference in the world. 200g of carbs would completely fuck up someone doing a low carb diet with high insulin resistance. It would shock their system, make them feel incredibly sick and ravenously hungry throwing them off the diet. In someone with high insulin sensitivity, 200g of carbs is a quick boost of energy and an easy way to prime hormone balance for muscle building.

TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.

The healthy plate you linked on the last website is dietary guidelines for people at an ideal weight. The USDA is not going to plan the ideal plate around obese people (though they should at this point).

I'm pretty sure most Gold's Gyms are independently owned. So there's no reason to discourage people from going there, unless someone happens to be thinking about going to the one you went to.

Make sure when you quit, you send a notarized letter or some shit.

Who was the stupid fuck back on FoH that was going to close his bank account because he couldn't read the fine print on the gym contract?

That would suck although it's not as if having a ripped chest while waiting on the last bit of spare tire to go is much better. Hell, my obliques are clearly visible but that shit hanging out over my stomach is tenacious.

Where did Gold's Gym touch you? For real, I'm curious to know what happened. I switched to Gold's from LA Fitness in January and I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with them. The general manager works the front desk very often and chats with us when we arrive, and all the other trainers/employees are as helpful and friendly as can be. They even have a whiteboard set up near the entrance where they put updates about requested changes; for instance, they recently put a note on there that they're going to be installing a new power rack soon due to popular demand.

I haven't been tracking calories very precisely (~2000 daily, rough guess), and I'm down to 214 lbs from 243 back in February. Pant size is down to 35, but shirts are still XXL. Feels good.

Oh, and lots of ice cream has been consumed over that time.
