I'm no scientist but running heavily on a 1300 calorie per day diet sounds like a surefire way to lose muscle mass -- I'm absolutely certain that I could pose this as a question to r/running or any similiar community and people would be like: ("Lol, no, eat a healthy 2000 calories a day minimum.")
That's the thing, I was running or lifting every day for 8 weeks with a diet of 2000-2400 calories a day and I didn't lose a single pound. Desperate times call for desperate measures. I'll only do this for like 2-3 weeks probably.

I dunno man; I don't want to call you a liar but is it possible your counting method is bad? If what you're reporting is accurate, then your metabolism functions differently than 99.999 percent of other people. It makes much more sense to me that you're improperly estimating calories (typical if you aren't weighing everything).

Running/lifting daily should be 2500+ calories/day for maintenance, easily. If what you're doing works for you, thats cool -- I just find it far more likely that your reported 2000-2400 was more likely around 3k, and now your reported 1300 is more like 1800. If you get what I'm sayin.

There isn't anything to weigh in my current diet. Two chicken breasts, 4-5 eggs, cheese stick, one serving of peanuts and two peanut butter sandwhiches. Maybe if I'm like quadrupling the pb serving size but I'm pretty confident I'm not. I mean since I cut down I'm losing about a pound per day though.

Well something was definitely off. Either your calorie intake calculation or your exercise calculation.

I don't know man. I have never struggled with losing or gaining before. I think it's my new work role. Going from a 5pm-5am shift every day then flipping to 5am-5pm every other week or so has me all jacked up in terms of sleep/metabolism.

Is your breath fruity yet? Are you even eating ANY vegetables of any sort? All I saw were eggs, nuts, and chicken breasts. I can't imagine what your head feels like every day.

With the exception of derivatives (ketchup, fries etc) I've almost never had vegetables or fruits in my life.

So after sitting on my ass for the better part of the last 4 years (got married, had a kid, yadda yadda yadda) and gaining probably 40 lbs(and I was already overweight), I finally started working out again for the first time in half a decade.

After just 1 week, I can't even explain how much better I feel. I have so much goddamn energy I'm bouncing off the walls. This is great.

Hopefully I can keep it up, I need to drop like 70-80 lbs, would be nice if most of it is gone by summer so I can run around with my kid and not be tired as shit and out of breath all the time, lol.

I don't really have a real specific weight goal, or BMI goal, or anything of that sort, I just want to feel good and have enough energy to keep up with a toddler, lol. I don't want to be the parent that has to sit on the park bench and just watch their kid play.

Honestly man, look through the instagram account I posted, get some meal inspiration there. Dieting does not have to be about starving yourself

Fell off the wagon pretty good over the holidays. Managed to gain around 10 lbs (up to 180) over Nov / Dec due to willpower issues. I am guessing 2 - 3 lbs is water weight that should be shed going back to Keto full time. The holidays are pretty brutal for me. Did about the same thing last year looking through myfitnesspal. However, I now have around a 5 month stretch before my anniversary without any real foreseeable interruptions. We are going to a beach so there is some incentive to get things moving again. My work also started a 'biggest loser' competition to kick off the year. I am not quite sure I have enough to lose to win, but I will give it a shot. Goes until 3/30. I am guessing I can drop 12 - 15 lbs.

That brings me to my first item, my resolution this year was trying to get to the bottom of my 'off the wagon' behavior. When I am on a schedule, I do fine. However, when I break habit I go all out turning into a vacuum cleaner for food. I can't seem to just eat a little bad stuff, or just have a taste. In my mind, the day is already lost so I should just go for it. If anyone has come into contact with any material on controlling urges or limiting yourself effectively I am going to start doing research.

In other news, my BJJ instructor mentioned there is a masters only (30+) tournament in Vegas coming at the end of September. I think I am going to attempt to make that as something like 180 schools will be participating. All belt levels are welcome. Most likely not getting Blue until late this year early next so I should be in the higher end of experience for white belts (1.5 years). I do not have previous combat sport experience or even high school / college, but meh. I will most likely compete in the lightweight division which is 154.1 - 167.5 lbs w/ Gi. I don't think it is possible for me to get down to 150 lbs. for featherweight, but I will have a better idea of that later this year. I think the looming prospect of this goal is going to help motivation as well.

Don't feel bad about gaining weight through the holidays. Just accept it for what it is and move on, which it sounds like you're doing.

2 chicken breasts, assuming your cooking method doesn't add any calories - ~450 calories
5 eggs - 350 calories
1 cheese stick - ~60 calories
1 serving of peanuts - ~170 calories
2 servings of peanut butter - ~400 calories
4 slices of bread - ~480 calories

You're still eating close to 2k calories, maybe more or less depending on products, condiments(chicken straight up is boring), portioning, etc. You should still be losing weight, but it looks like your estimations are off by 50%, so I would get a kitchen scale and start tracking things.

Just wanted to add that its REALLY easy to go overboard with peanuts. What you think a serving of peanut butter is probably closer to 2.

This all looks fine besides the calories for bread, what the fuck kind of bread is 120 calories per slice? I buy that 40 calories per slice shit.

You sure about that? Most bread is around 120-160 calories per slice.

I think I know the bread he's talking about, as I used to buy it, too. It tastes decent enough, as well. You can find normal sandwich slices of white bread for 80 calories a slice, and they go as low as 40 - 60 calories a slice if you get the super "healthy" brands.

That's where variance depending on product really effects the results. I went with what I remember per slice from 3+ years of counting calories. For reference, it's Heidelberg French Peasant bread(anyone living near central NY should try this bread) and it's 120 calories per slice. But you if you get some denser, or airier, or light, or whole wheat, flax, etc, it will definitely affect the calories. As will the portioning if it is (likely)pre-sliced.

This should just emphasize how much Zaide needs count his calories if he's serious about losing weight.
