Two reasons:

1) I haven't been under 200 since I was like 11 and I want to do it, just to do it.
.
I did the same thing, a couple of years ago. 6'4, and normally sitting at 206-208. Dropped to 190 just to see if I could do it. 5 weeks of ketosis did the job. Then straight back up. I'm very comfortable at around 207.

I'm not going to die on 1200 calories a day. I've done 12-1500 for about 10 weeks and I'm fine. Doing it for 40 won't kill me. I don't drink calories(and haven't for about a year) and I don't eat fast food unless I'm in a social setting at a bar or something.

If I'm sore I take a day off from lifting.
I can't believe this.

a 300lb sedentary person needs 2700 calories a day just to maintain their weight. You're what, 350lbs and doing exercise EVERY day?, I'm going to suggest that you could eat 3000+ calories a day and still lose weight.

To put things into perspective - I'm 175lbs, 4 gym sessions a week - 60 minutes of weights with HIIT and I cut on 2200-2300 calories.

If you're new to the gym then you are quite capable of building muscle whilst also losing fat. "But I don't want to get ripped!" = zzzzzzz, more muscle = higher metabolism. You SHOULD care about building muscle.

Right now you are exercising daily and eating like an anorexic 13 year old Russian gymnast.

Ossoi is correct. Lifting is good for weight loss. Truth fact. The scale won't be as kind to you while you lift as you add muscle and therefore offset your total weight loss, but the muscle will keep your BMR high as you drop the fat. It's a very smart long term play, but the rewards are more subtle while you still have a large amount of fat to burn. As you get leaner and your BMR craters, you'll value the lifting as part of your weight LOSS routine more. And again, don't go crazy with it. The most vital thing to remember is to avoid injury. Use proper form or a machine that enforces proper form. Lift what you can handle.

Find your BMR and base your calories around that. A heavy guy can lose fat eating 3k calories. That's not a permission slip for everyone. Find YOUR BMR and work around it.John's BMR Calculatoris decent.

And if you do lift, I likeFitNotes - Gym Workout Log (Android App)to observe my progress. I'm sure the Apple Store has something similar.

Yeah, BMR is annoying. When I was 450+ and eating 2000-2200 calories a day I was not losing nearly as fast I was was "supposed" to. If I could actually lose 2.5 lbs a week eating 2500 calories now I would, but I don't. I lose like 1.5 lbs a week. I know because I was pretty meticulous about tracking my intake and it just went slow as fuck. Since I restarted I log literally everything I eat and even eating like I'm eating now some weeks it's like 2 lbs, other weeks it's like 5.5. It's not about poorly measuring either, I generally have a full(non family) container of one of these:
Birds Eye® Voila!® - Garlic Chicken

With an additional chicken breast or other protein added, then I eat some watermelon and maybe have a protein shake to make sure I make it to 100g of protein every day. If I want something sweet I'l have one of these maybe every other day, I have like 5 boxes in my freeze I've been working on for 6 weeks:
Lose weight & improve your health with a real food diet | Fooducate

That usually totals out to 1200-1500 calories depending on if I did the protein shake or coconut bar or both. That's literally it. Aside from some meatballs I use to give my dog his medication that I may occasionally eat a couple of and my daily supplements(BCAAs, multivitamin, fish oil, fiber), I literally do not eat anything else. My cheat days lately have been a full box of these:
Banquet 6 Salisbury Steaks & Brown Gravy | Hy-Vee Aisles Online Grocery Shopping

and some watermelon. That's a ton of sodium but still not more than 15-1600 calories.

Like I said, I'm done theorizing about what should work and focused on just doing what has worked. I'll tweak as needed. It's cool that I should be able to lose weight faster than I am, but I'm not. Getting upset about it doesn't accomplish anything.

Losing weight and losing fat aren't always the same thing. I am curious about the disparity in your results and what we expect to be your results, but I agree with you that you should do "what works". Hopefully you'll reap more truth from accepted metrics as you come down to your target weight.

Holy fuck. First Brahma with his "i ate 5 drumsticks and a bunch of diet root beers for dinner // WHY AM I SO HUNGRY" and now Gilg "90 percent of what I eat is frozen processed garbage food"

Are you fat people with shit diets just pathologically opposed to googling for "easy recipes with chicken breast"? Did you take the character flaw "never cook" when you rolled your character?

Has it occurred to you to ask people with great physiques and health what they eat, then model your plan after them? Do you expect them to say "I eat fried chicken and diet rootbeer" or "I eat microwavable chicken entrees and watermelon."

If a man is 400 pounds it is safe to assume that they're coming into this without the best dietary habits. Perhaps a nutritionist is best.

Nutritionist means nothing. We're all nutritionists as far as I'm concerned.

Dietitian if you want someone who actually went to school and has any sort of accreditation.

If you're 400lbs I'd start with "anything other than what you're doing now"

It only runs a slim chance of being worse than whatever you're doing.

This man is your guiding light. Learn to fucking cook people. It's really not that difficult to make something edible that isn't littered in shit.

DELI MEAT IS FUCKING GARBAGE TOO.

Deli meat is also really fucking expensive. Does nobody look at the price/lb on that shit?

The on sale "cheap" shit is still $6+ per pound (and it's garbage. Anything not Boar's Head is crap and that stuff is $10+ on sale). I can get delicious cuts of fresh beef or pork for way cheaper than that.

Oh please. My goal up to this point in my life has been to lift your house on my bench press, and squat your car. My diet was pretty much geared towards that. Now I just want to see my kids graduate college. Things change. Going from steaks, eggs and a chicken a night to maintain your protein intake to eating a fuckin chicken breast is silly. We are asking on ways to SLOWLY and permanently go to eating that chicken breast so we don't quit the good habits and cleaner living.

On top of that I have never cooked a meal in my 45 years. I have gone to drowning everything in hot sauce to make it palatable to actually cooking meals my kids think are good. I bought a fuckin CROCK POT! A FUCKIN CROCK POT!

Back off BITCH!!

Thumann's > Boar's Head. Both are good though.

But yeah I'm not spending $9 on a pound of fucking salty, processed ham when I can get 4.5 pounds of chicken breast for the same price.

I'm also poor. But I have abs. SO WHO'S WINNING?!

You know how to search the internet for ways to min/max your wizard to the nth degree but you can't be bothered to search the internet for easy, tasty meals. That's his point.

Cooking is really easy. You don't need years of experience, all you need is an internet connection and to know how to read.

You dont even need to read, just watch a fucking youtube video. Or those snazzy little facebok gifs that are all the rage these days that shows you an entire recipe in less than a min.
