It's mostly the sweetener thing I'm against.
Well don't drink it then but don't give other people shit because you're paranoid. Aspartame is one of the most studied substances on the planet and aside from one bullshit study from Italy where they gave rats the equivalent of about 1500 cans of diet Coke a day it's been shown to be safe. Even in that study they demonstrated that there was a "safe" level in rats and they took that and adjusted it for the size of humans, then divided it by 10 just to be safe and it was still the equivalent of about 15 cans of diet coke a day. Sure water is great, but if the artificial sweeteners help people get off of sugar and carbs you are almost certainly doing them a disservice by trying to scare them with some bullshit. The fact that Lumi instantly agreed with you should be a sign to you that you are wrong.

I dunno, this is really painful to read. You do realize that hunger is a mostly irrational feeling that you can completely ignore, right? Have you ever fasted? Why not just skip eating for like 3 days to prove you can. Limit yourself to 400 calories for a week. If you're fat you'll be completely fine.

Why are you thinking of such elaborate plans to "fight hunger"? Just tell your hunger no. I mean if it works for you sure, do it, but this reads like someone making elaborate excuses to avoid facing the root issue.

"Just have more will power". Thread over. Thanks man, great advice.

This is pretty much it.

Look if fighting back against hunger pangs was easy, then everyone would be skinny that wants to be. Filling up on water is a strategy, but how long is it going to take for you to not want water? Which is pretty fucking obvious that most of the world refuses to drink water. "Why do I have a headache all the time?" kind of dumb shit.

Ill also, always, put any GLP drug far below those of us that lose the weight naturally. Its healthier to take Ozempic than being a fat fuck, by leaps and bounds. But to say anyone that takes it has anywhere near the mental fortitude of someone that lost it naturally is just laughable.

Lastly, lets not pretend losing 100 pounds when you're 20ish years old or whatever is even remotely close to doing it in your late 30's or older.

THE POINT of the fucking powerade suggestion, "as painful as it reads" kind of faggot shit - is that Powerade fills you up, ending hunger pangs, ending sugar cravings, and also satisfies emotional / binge eating. This thread is so fucking soft skinned. jfc

If think we're not playing D&D with people being born with some willpower they cannot change. The added benefit of this road is this. Working on your willpower.

Too many people in this thread taking the extreme on each side. Weight loss, exercise, medicine, artificial sweeteners, and anything else being thrown in this thread all boils down to moderation. There's no reason people shouldn't take advantage of proven and studied medicines but there's an epidemic of doctors over prescribing medication to fix every issue. Both of these things can exist at the same time. At the same time, you can work out and eat healthy without being some gym bro who lives in the gym 24/7 while downing nothing but protein shakes.

Alright so its not that you think those medications diminish the achievement without them. It's that you have a superiority complex.

Why the fuck do people always scream "superiority complex" nonsense. Can just as easily turn it around and say you just have an inferiority complex because you had to use x/y/z method that other people don't have to and it upsets you.

Losing weight without using drugs is 1000x better than using drugs to do it, regardless of how many 'long term' studies come out showing they're 'safe'. Just look at all the shit going on in the last few years with microplastics/food/etc. For a long time nobody said anything and if you tried to say something was 'unsafe' you'd get laughed at. Now it's the cool thing to do to say everything the big companies make is poison, and people have hated big pharma for a lot longer than food but when it comes to the big pharma pills they like because they benefit from them it's somehow a completely different ballgame.

FDA‐approved semaglutide products bear a boxed warning, commonly referred to as a “black box warning,” which is the strongest warning FDA requires, indicating that the drug carries a significant risk of serious or even life‐threatening adverse effects. The boxed warning addresses the risk of thyroid C‐cell tumors.Jun 24, 2024

You should read more into that. I was hoping to persuade my parents to start on it. Both are pretty severely overweight and in their 60s and my father has heart disease and has had heart valve surgery. My mother can't take it because she has a history of Thyroid problems, which is related to that warning. But Ozempic has been around a long, long time and there is no link at all to Thyroid cancer in humans. They have to put that warning there because it caused thyroid cancer in test rodents.

As for me being retarded. You might want to actually think for 2 seconds about what I was commenting on about your own behavior in this thread. I don't care at all what you think of me but I think it's unfortunate that people take such hardline stances on things that are potentially incredibly beneficial to society as a whole.

You keep drilling on. Fine. We'll ignore the black box warning. How about this one?
Taking Ozempic for over a year can potentially increase the risk of more serious side effects, including pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), gallbladder issues like gallstones, potential thyroid problems, and gastrointestinal complications like gastroparesis, especially if not monitored closely by a doctor; while the most common side effects are nausea and vomiting, long-term use could lead to more concerning health issues.

I strongly believe its bad for a person to take. But even I said, in my post that you originally got all "high and mighty" over, is that I think its better to take the drug than be morbidly obese. But whatever man. Stay in your feelings.

"Take these drugs, it's for the good of society!"
'you should probably lose weight without taking drugs'
"Haha, look at you with your superiority complex, telling people not to take these drugs! you are an idiot and it's not only 100% safe but it offers incredible benefits to society!"

Khane, what are your thoughts on all the 'modern food is poison' stuff? Most of the things in modern food that everyone is outraged about now have been around a lot longer than Ozempic has...

What would be beneficial to the society as a whole, is that people stop believing that you can sit on your ass 16 hours a day, eat pizza and then some combination of miracle pills will fix their health.

Some poeple (maybe even a lot in the USA) will benefit from taking ozempic, but that's far from an optimal situation.

You are outlining why certain stigmas are attached to things like this. Many people immediately picture the dregs of society riding their scooters in Wal-Mart doing nothing but leeching resources and forget that isn't the vast majority of overweight people.

The vast majority of people in the USA are overweight. None were 100 years ago and for all recorded history before that time. We invented that problem.

If you're significantlly 'overfat', say over 30/35% body fat for a man or more, you have a lifestyle that your body was not designed to have. A drug fixing that is science fiction. It's going to be a bandaid, and it will start leaking elsewhere and so on. I

It's not something we should promote, but see as a last resort.
