I have a skype call tomorrow with that company I am working with to go over our business plan and terms, we have still been in contact after I asked for 10% of their company so that's a good sign I guess.

Job interview results in.

No Bueno. My old district manager refuses to hire anyone who left the company, be it on good or bed terms. I was (as well as my old boss) hopeful that since I was 3rd in sales out of over 600+ reps company wide for 2 years in a row that an exception would be made.

One of their competitors contacted me today through one of their recruiters. We will see where that takes me.

In the mean time my boss at my current job put a half hour meeting on my calendar this Friday...so we'll see what that brings.

Seems like an odd policy. I guess it curbs vine swinging but it still seems dumb to outright refuse good talent back in.

He's a douchey dude who's stuck on himself. No one who works under him is fond of him. My leaving made him look bad, even though I left on good terms, I found out later he received scrutiny for letting me leave due to the reasons I left.

Why would 1030 be bad? I would think the 3 would be it so you have time to clean out your shit.

At my place they did layoffs at like 9 am on a Tuesday but i think they're retarded.

Question for those in the IT industry doing network/system admin type work. How are your job prospects and how big of an issue is all the H1B visa workers really? A lot of people trying to dissuade me from going into the IT field.

My other alternative is accounting. Not really passionate about anything, tbh. Looking for a stable career that'll pay decent with 5-7 years of experience. Either route I go I'll most likely add an MBA. Any and all advice is appreciated.

Meh, not good to tarnish reputation over 6 hours. I went in pretty drunk my last day at my first job and kinda regret it

I have never gone in on my last day simply to avoid the "we should go out to lunch" crap with people I barely talked to the entire time I worked there.

We always just have people leave after their exit interview. There is no point in keeping them there the entire day.

The only thing I need to do is return equipment and other stuff. There wouldn't be a reason to stay... like I'm going to be adding features to BIOS up to my last minute, haha

They're going to make you spend the entire afternoon doing a knowledge transfer to the old guy

And if they're not, what are they going to do, fire you? Leave when you want.
I've never had an exit interview, but kind of what I was thinking. You're done there now, what keeps you from just saying "See Ya".

I'm a system/network admin and I don't have any issues here in LA and I'm not really the personality type to be a good networker. It took me about 2 weeks of casual looking to switch jobs and I get recruitment calls\linked in interview requests pretty regularly.

Related - My new job is at an enormous law firm and my god is it boring. It's basically a glorified help desk gig because most of the servers and switches are at our corporate location and everything is run through Citrix. I'm already considering leaving but the pay is super good and they contribute an additional 10% of my salary to 401k which feels like a great deal. Might just bang out a year here and finish mcse and work on my linux skills but I dunno, there's like nothing to do all day and it's fucking killing me.

Definitely leave at 9am if this is what they have planned
fuck, you reminded me. Next week I Have to do a knowledge dump of some of the tasks that I take care of weekly (image builds, our linux/windows servers that connect to our EMC dev servers, git/stash maintenance, some big features i implemented) and he will be there.

Maybe I should just call out sick all week
