I've never had an exit interview, but kind of what I was thinking. You're done there now, what keeps you from just saying "See Ya".
It's his first gig out of school. He's got a long career ahead of him and you never know when you might work with the same people again, either by going back to an old company or going to a new company that they had moved to first. Burning bridges is not recommended for those just starting out in a particular career field.

He isn't leaving on bad terms, either. If I left my current place I'd make sure to leave with the best favorable impression possible. Not even for personal selfish reasons of "I may need to work there again" or anything mostly because the company has treated me well and I'm not a chode.

I intend to fully burn the bridge with old guy though.

Just heard a whole bunch of complaints about him. I guess when people find out you're leaving, they don't mind talking your ear off about shit they don't like.

Noodle what will you do if your new place hires the old guy as well
Man, I'd get really depressed, he's really tough to handle. I know I can joke about him because I'm leaving, but he destroys my work productivity. The company is still in 'startup mode' even though they grew pretty big, I'm certain they wouldn't want a 60 year old dude with 3 months experience.

Oh, I don't even know if I mentioned this - but I am the ONLY BIOS developer at this company. I'm joining the hardware team as "the guy".

That's part of my nervousness..

So after giving up on my job search last week, this week the place I wanted to work at gives me a call and is desperately trying to hire me. I guess the old manager there had a grudge against me so stopped my application from progressing, well he got fired and the head GM called me personally to talk about it and offer me the job. Should be about 20k a year more along with less stress and paid holdiays/401k/benefits (which I don't have at the current place).

Going put of town this weekend and leaving work early tomorrow so I'll wait till Monday to put my notice in.

The lord provides.

I had a very similar scenario except i'd already quit and got an interview and offer 4 days after my resignation when i'd been looking for months.

Got a lot of activity today which has been good even if no actual offer. Got an email about 1 job saying the government contract has been delayed until the end of the year. Soon after I got a call that a position I applied for was moved to Denver and so he couldn't hire anyone anymore. Doh!

Then later in the afternoon I got a call from 2 different staffing agencies. One of them sounds very promising as a Network Technician for Dell at Boeing sites around Seattle. I guess Boeing is updating all their computer stuff and hired Dell to do it. Would have to relocate up from the Portland area but that's OK.

The dude talked to me about what is important to me like PTO and started talking to me about rental costs in the area compared to Portland. I understand that their main goal is to place people but this guy has been the best and most personable of them all. TekSystems is the name of the staffing agency. Could be all blowing smoke up my ass. I mean the guy connected with me on LinkedIn within a few minutes after our call ended.

Recruiter called me first thing this morning for a project coordinator posistion. I asked about it and it was in a "legal" capacity. She finally confessed that she really didn't know what any of the stuff on my resume meant but I had project coordinator on it.

LOL where do they come up with these people. I guess the few lines pertaining to having sucessfuly challenged liquidated damages threw her for a loop.

Just remember what recruiters are, they want to get as many people into jobs as possible for their own monetary gain. It's in their best interest to find good candidates, but some will absolutely blast out a million calls to load them up.

Either way, good luck!

So yesterday I successfully negotiated for 33% of a startup. They have a company that does software and I have a hardware design that would work hand in hand with what they have going. They are spending $50k on designing it and I will assist in that part. We will then take that IP and spin off a new company we will all be equal partners in. We are now discussing what kind of metric we want to use to trigger this new corporation, units ordered or something like that.

I do my normal job/career and I am doing this on the side making phone calls to a few people in the industry and working along side the engineers several times a week.

Pretty excited.

What about Drone Pocket Pussies?

Like you're sitting on a bench depressed and a fresh pocket pussy flys up. You fuck it then deposit a couple bucks, say thanks, and walk away happy.

If it was a heroin-addicted flying pocket pussy, you'd have at least 1 customer we all know!

Do you not know how recruiters work?

Bottom level recruiters are fishers. They find people to get into their system. Anything that seems close to the job they send up the chain to the real recruiters.

For anyone that is in sales, account managment or business development or anything that requires out reach; accept or try to connect to every recruiter you can find on LinkedIn. It allows you all sorts of 2nd and 3rd hand connections in a lot of different fields.

The few times I've actually responded to them in a positive way I got an interview pretty shortly after. At times I have thought about being a part time recruiter for my small sector of the industry. I talk to owners, presidents, managers at these companies who complain non stop that they get sent people who are "project managers" in IT and such stuff when they are looking for a project manager for a fabrication, construction job. They can't even have a conversation about it.

My last job I got because I bypassed the recruiter. I sent my resume to her and never heard back after she requested it and references. Sent it to the company. They were very excited to see it and they fired the company that had been contracting with.
