I wasn't offended by things like the Mustang Mach E or GM's rebadged Holden they called a GTO, but this disgusts me. International Harvester Scouts were my favorite vehicle growing up. Don't besmirch that name with this bullshit. They didn't really bring along any of the main styling cues except "boxy" and sort of a semblance of the old grill in the front. Why would you not do something with circular headlights?

This is going to be another disaster for VW. They're going to piss off all the dealerships by selling direct to consumer, but then probably still rely on their dealer network for service. I'm sure that will go splendidly.

They /mentioned/ one aspect of YeYonderOl'Scout - that I found an odd take... well not odd, but odd like "I dont think you REALLY mean what your saying" - and that it is 90% serviceable in your driveway.

I think it looks fine, its like a retro rivian, and I want an rt1, so this will do - and if it does go the way of the ID.4 - then after a year or 2, enjoy the stupid cheap depreciated used ones!

ID.4's are really not that bad of an EV, my friend and my boss have one.

The ID.4 had a refresh didn’t it? Feel like I heard it was a solid improvement. Maybe that was just gradual progress of the software?

I actually think it looks pretty decent. What offends me is what bugged a lot of people with the new GTO - they literally slapped the name on it and made no effort to make callbacks to the iconic models of the past. Why bother reviving a name and evoking the history behind it. Call it something new.

Agreed on servicability, I bet the gas range extender thing they're putting in will need some dumb tools to change the oil even.

I'm curious how much actual Rivian will be in this thing - that joint venture was pretty recent. I'm expecting the electrical architecture will be fully VW on this. Maybe just the infotainment will be Rivian although I'm not sure that's a plus as I personally much prefer Carplay/Android Auto.

I think depreciation on a lot of these EVs is a function of the mediocre range. The old ID4's big battery was only good for about 270 miles. Assuming maybe a 10% degradation on a used vehicle and you're at 250, which is a tough sell. I think these will do a lot better if they actually come out with the promised 350 mi range and the gas generator.

My boss as the first year, and my friend the next - it was mostly software. They did a slight battery change or efficiency to get some miles out of it i think.

I dont know about the newer ones- buy my bosses 21 or 20? Can’t get OTA so he has to bring it in… and the service techs never know what they are doing and take a week to install it- that’s been his only complaint

I just did my only and last long trip in my Mach e- the thing just drains battery cruising at 75-85 - i would have not made it if I didn’t have the adapter and access to tesla chargers.

Tesla chargers blow away even the new ChargePoint big guy i stopped at.

In city range does not matter really if you have at home plug- but if your not getting ionic ACTUAL 250 on highway, forget it

The new 286 hp version with 5.0 is the most sold over here. Outsells Tesla for some reason. I guess everyone wants to humor their bob the builder fantasies, drive tractors in town. I kid, it's really a great ride.

Man, I'd love an Exige. Not exactly easy to find in the states.

It's funny because there's a Lotus dealer like 20 minutes from me in Jacksonville
Husband of one of my wife’s coworkers picked an Elise earlier this year, maybe a 2014? It’s always struck me as a great like weekend car, I would consider one if I was ever in the market for that kind of thing.

You should ride around in one before you say that, especially on roads you would normally drive.

Absolutely, and it isn't anything that's on the radar. Plenty of other hobbies I would throw money at first.

Here we go…

Let’s enjoy the Ford repair process….View attachment 558390

Yikes. I was picking up the parents from the airport in the used Model S I bought, but it only came with one key dongle (it's not a credit card thing like the Y / 3 models ). I did that awkward drive up just a bit too early, so airport security made me get back in the car and move on. Apparently the dongle fell out, and the car told me once I put it in park or moved from the seat, that was it. Car no movey! Luckily I did one rotation around the airport and the key was still in the road or it would've been an embarrassing tow + uber ride.

You CAN normally use the app to drive, but after I paid for the infotainment upgrade (they replace the computer and both screens for only $1500), they forgot to reset the security module so app was no go. Fixed now, but gotta love modern cars.

Yeah

When i got the Mach e the app key sucked, took a good year for them to get it to working about as well as teslas

This issue… usually is a HVJB fault… but the service tech apparently indicated its the entire battery.. so, whew… lets see what happens

Right now i have a bronco sport as a loaner… what is this car meant to be? lol its like… I dunno

Sport is just a shitty poor man option for a real bronco.

Kinda like the mach e mustangs were for degenerates with no taste

Lol

The Mach e looks way better than a 3 or Y… looks are subjective though

But it still is only a “mustang” in reference only.

The Mach e lights are better than the new real mustang. How you go from nice animated turns on the mache to junky looking clunky things on the “all new” mustang.
