The magic is that you can have is set to traditional scroll wheel behavior, then flick the wheel and it will start spinning freely. You use the options app to control the force of the flick necessary to cause it to spin freely.
How long have you been using it without knowing this? RTFM.
How have you never pressed that button out of curiosity or even accidentally? My jimmies are now so rustled that I don't know if I can sleep now.
This was really my fault. I was working on a bolt I couldn't see, it was 100 degrees out, I was reaching around a wheel working backwards and had convinced myself I was turning the right direction (I wasn't) and when I couldn't budge it, I went for the cheater pipe.

I had a pile of those 3/8. Last one I bent with my bare hand. Really fun too when the gear breaks and you put about 390 lb/foot of torque onto tiny fingers.
if its craftsman, did you try to warranty it? think all you would have to do is clean the rust of it and send them a pic. when my 1/4" pass-through ratchet stopped working, called, it was out of production and they gave me $20ish credit. didn't have to even send in a pic. cracked a 3/8ths chrome socket and they sent me an impact. it wasn't part of a set so it didn't matter.
You're not throwing out enough. I just went through preemptively after 3 years because I hate it so much.Packing to move after 25 years in one house.
Four full truck loads to the landfill already, gave away a lot of furniture. Wife has taken 5 loads to Goodwill. I probably have another 4 loads to take, have junk piles everywhere to get rid off lol. I hear ya, wish I could toss it all. Good thing we are only packing, we hired a moving company to load and unload all the boxes/furniture, they will even take down the beds and reassemble in the new house.
I found shit like an entire box full of water bottles (95% from sales people), an entire box of conference swag (USB sticks pens pads whatever was in my old office desk), an entire tote full of cables from 90s to 2010s, etc. I am finally pcmcia card free.
