Only movie I ever walked out on was Dave Chapelles block party. It was a last minute choice and we assumed/i was informed by a friend that it was just a movie about his comedy.

Turned out to be some two hour black culture documentary. Lasted 45 minutes and two rap/soul music numbers before I left.

Speaking of Hero...any recent movies in the vein of Crouching Tiger/House of Flying Daggers/Hero? Those types of fantasy Chinese swordfighting movies were huge around the turn of the millennium, but I haven't seen much mention of any newer takes on the style(in US cinema, at least)
No, contrary to someones recent opinion on Hero, it was last great HK/China, wire-fu movie released. Sadly i have pretty much seen the reset (admittedly i've given up 2010-2012). Chinese action movies are pathetic now, and have been getting progressively worse since HK integrated back w/ China and those retards switched to full Mandarin. Bad/bootleg CGI, piss poor generation X actors/actresses, just sad.

HK/China is still producing several every year (there are variations of era, 'epic' level and 'fantasy' level) at least. Off the top of my head (Google assisted): Legend Of The Black Scorpion, Curse of the Golden Flower, The Warlords, Red Cliff, The Flying Swords of Dragon Gate, Bodyguards & Assassins, Brotherhood of Blades... films of other genres also incorporate elements of fantasy sword fighting, like Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon.

I thought the acrobatic way they fought in the prequels was pretty awesome most of the time, but I still like the old stuff where the lightsabers seemed to have mass. It's the difference between broadswords and rapiers. If they could combine the two it'd be awesome.

After all, jedi are semi-precognitive, so any fight where one can't simply overpower the other (see Luke surging with anger) is a chess match of trying to catch the other with a move they can't react fast enough to. I also (nerd out) always imagined that the battles are also being fought on an invisible level with the force, trying to cloud each others mind or beat each other down with waves of force thingery. Thus Vader staggering around like a dolt while Luke wailed on him, or the fucking retarded way Darth Maul got chopped in half when he had an eternity to react. Made even more retarded when Anakin was turned into a weeble-wobble for trying the exact same goddamn move with significantly less success. So Obi-Wan fucking with Maul's head is the only way to explain away that AWFUL scene.

Also hilarious was how pitiful Obi-Wan was against Dooku. That guy just had his number.

What I take away from all of this is the dark side is stronger burst but goes OOM faster. And I fear from the rumors that they have Luke still doing the post-Avengers Tony Stark PTSD thing 30 years later out of his guilt for giving in to the dark side to beat up his dad.

NERD!!!
The prequels were just bad all around. Fancy sword play and CGI actually made them even worse.

I remember hearing how amazing and epic and awesome Red Cliff was.

I can't really say how long I watched it before I deleted it.

I managed to watch it all the way through about six months ago but can't recall a single thing about it now. It's a struggle to find a remotely interesting Chinese/HK film that doesn't have ridiculously implausible fight scenes and/or overused wire fu.

I think one of the greatest fight movies I've seen in recent years has to beChocolate. A close second would beIp Mansimply because Donnie Yen is highly watchable when he's kicking ass.

Saw Furious 7. This took over the #1 spot for my worst movie seen in a theater from Lawnmower Man. Might as well make it an anime and finish going full retard.

Red Cliff is bad ass, but you have to watch the original two-part version, not the cut up film they released here in the U.S. that left half the story on the floor.

Walked out on Hero (2002)
I went in to this expecting ass whipping Jet Li action start to finish, was on a big kick of his movies at the time and it looked like all them turned up to 11. Then it was...like what it was. All artsy and shit. Was massively disappointed.

On rewatching, without all the expectations, I enjoyed it a lot. But yeah, first time in theaters I was like "Fuuuuuuuck".

The Hobbit movies. hated the first one but thought maybe I had a bad day and gave the second one a try and hated it more.
I thought back on it, the Star Wars prequels, like people said, Golden Compass, Matrix 2 (original still one of my favorites, so that was a big let down), The Prestige, Toy Story 3, Thor 1, Hulk, Star Trek, Cloud Atlas, Spiderman 3...

The Hobbits I think win for the worst

Or wait! Hmmm Avatar: The Last Airbender..I felt embarrassed for even liking the series for a bit after that one

I don't think you understand the thread. You can't like a series after watching the movie version and then try to pawn it off as one of the worst movies you have watched. Obviously, you liked it enough to start watching the series. Are you trying to up those mighty Toconets with your selection? Trying to sound hipster cool?

Wat? I watched the series before the movie came out and I also was sort of embarrassed to be an Avatar fan after I saw the movie. It is, quite possibly, the worst most unwatchable movie ever made. And I watched Eragon TWICE.

The statement you quoted does not imply anything about whether he had seen the show before the movie or didn't start it until after. You're just jumping to an unfounded conclusion.

Let's be honest, the japanese could have done a better live action english adaptation of the series than Shyamalan. Uwe Boll could have done better FFS.

I can understand not liking a movie, but citing The Prestige as one of the worst movie you saw in theater? That, I don't get. Are you a member of the Edison Fan Club or something?

I don't understand the comments about Hero either. It wasn't what I expected either, but I was totally blown away when I saw that movie.

I don't get why everyone expected Dustin Hoffman to suddenly be an action star. It would have made no sense in the context of the movie
