I don't know anyone who plays wow. I don't know how they can pretend the population hasn't dropped significantly from the social phenomenom it was 3-4 years ago. No one talks about it, no one plays it, it's become largely irrelevant in the overall gaming scene.
If that would be true then how come no other MMO has managed to eclipse it by now?

You think the age of sub-based MMOs is still with us? That model of business is dying its last grasps, and the problem that every MMO that think it can be sub-based, and faces F2P conversion after 3 months gets the conversion badly done.
Online game services went from "pay-by-the-hour-played" to "pay-flat-rate" and are now headed to "pay-when-you-want". The problems of competition: as the market matures, profit margins shrink. Gone are the heady days of getting million of people to pay you upfront 15$/month. Won't happen again, just like you don't get games to pay by the hour anymore.
The next age is B2P for triple-A stuff, and F2P for the lower budget trash.
