They asked some Californians to help with it and then hired a Californian voice acting studio who gave them a tranny main character and racist fake South American accents.
So Blizzard have a real opportunity to hit back after the genius of the last two FF14 expansion stories.
General Diversity isn't a good sign, but Xalatath is looking good. Hopefully General Diversity is the end boss and Xalathath is going to stick around for the next two expansions.

Nothing like logging in to check out a pre-patch ahead of the expansion in two weeks and facing a wall of total confusion from a litany of campaign quests since the last time you played + a whole new talent system / spec mechanic.
Then I open my bags and find a bajillion crafting mats for stuff that no longer matters and misc zone specific doodads.
Deleted everything but the campaign quests and am fast forwarding through the last two years of plotline as a way to relearn the character. Warbands seem very cool for people who enjoy alts though.

I think there is an addon that makes abandoning quests super quick. But yeah, quit all that old shit asap.
One thing I kind of regret is deleting some of my resources I couldn’t immediately off load on the AH. Some of that shit you can convert to gold pretty easily.

When you hit 70, go do the prepatch event for a couple hours to get a full 480 set + upgrade materials to probably fully upgrade the weapons to 503. Will make doing the story real quick and you will be able to do 5 man group quests alone. I think I hit 70 30 min into Waking Shore

Kinda the problem with modern story telling in fantasy, I mean it's been a problem in DnD forever. It just kind of gets ridiculous once you save the universe for the 8th time then go help someone find their lost bracelet yet again.

Friends sucked me back into it to play with them and I tried just going through the DF story and with all the skips and catch-up stuff it’s a convoluted mess. There’s a ton of story beats I apparently missed somehow, despite focusing on just the campaign missions and following those where the quest log told me to.

How the hell can anyone say that degeneracy in FF14 is entirely player made when two of the races are a literally god damn loli doll and the other is a playboy bunny, and most of the time you'll see them strutting around in lingerie. I swear to god every single person who plays one of those loli dolls is a pedo and every single one of those who play the playboy bunnies is a tranny. Prove me wrong.

That's true to an extent but you don't have to sexualize anything in the game just to play it. That's up to the players. The devs certainly aren't innocent in the sense that they enable it.

Yeah everyone sexualizes stuff to a different degree, though I don't know how anyone could with the pear shaped short class in FF14, plus they walk like they have no knees.
In the end they are just pixels, and I'm just focusing on the MSQ. But sometimes they put huge mommy milkers on a boss, or a crazy smooth hip line on like a sin-eater or something and I'll nod knowingly. (Why yes I'm still in Shadowbringers expansion)

The Emerald Dream World Boss / Raid where you escort the sleepy Ancient is actually kinda nifty. The expansion really did have some interesting ideas on how to refresh MMO activities, especially since such world quests are pretty much the only time it feels like an MMO.

DF is a story nightmare but mechanically it was a much needed refresh. The bigger problem is did accomplish enough and will TWW be a generally good expac or will it still be living in the house while it's being renovated. Unfortunately I get vibes of the latter.
Also there's the other element which is that DF is compared to SL, one of the most universally hated expacs from story to mechanics to systems to content. So DF gets at least a bit of nostalgia warmth returning to Azeroth and a gains a few points it probably doesn't deserve just by not being as bad as SL.

I get that DF is very 'dragon dragon dragon' from an overall plot/storyline point of view as that's only logical given the setting. That having been said it feels like the whole thing was basically a B-story disconnected from everything else...except for the Emerald Dream.
I have to imagine that whole 'lets make a new World Tree' bit is kinda awkward from a Horde character point of view.
