Thor was going through the UI/options for the mayor functions today along w/ the flying mount, was pretty neat stuff I hadn't seen before as someone who only recently bought in / started following the game a little more.

Ashes is a beautiful game. But so is BDO. BDO servers are suffering because of the grind once you get to max lvl. I see a lot of stuff with ashes that is not good. You build you're world going up not wide because you spread your gamer to thin. The game will slowly collapse onto its self. Pvp will die off due to ganking.

"ganking" is a term used by people who cry about their inability to pay attention in a hostile environment

Open world PvP is only enjoyed by small-dicked adolescents who still yearn for mother's tit.

Reminds me of all the black temple geared dudes that got owned in arena, pretended they never tried and said it was for "spregs".

But on a serious note, divide out the PvE/PvP servers. A majority of people (Sturgeon's Law) want to be tabbed out of game while medding and largely not aware of their surroundings when farming. Get that 99 billion served, funds the game better for the "tit suckin sickos". Even the most toxic, ammoral people who only found joy in making others miserable couldn't handle a server with pvp item loot in my experience. I know some raw pvp talents that simply "won't play it" because even they can't handle that level of risk and reward, so we are talking a small minority within a minority which I am glad to admit.

Even Turtle WoW where almost anyone serious I talked to "was a grand marshall gladiator" got griefed off in a few hours of STV insanity and it was definitely rough.

This passage seems to discuss the dynamics of PvE (Player vs Environment) and PvP (Player vs Player) servers in a video game, making points about player preferences and game balance. Here’s a breakdown:

  1. Dividing PvE and PvP servers: The speaker suggests separating PvE and PvP servers. This likely means having different servers for players who want to engage with the game’s environment and content (PvE) versus those who want to engage in combat with other players (PvP).
  2. Sturgeon’s Law: This refers to the idea that "90% of everything is crap." The speaker uses this to imply that most players are casual and prefer to "tab out of the game" (i.e., minimize the game or multitask while playing) when farming or meditating, and they’re not really focused on the in-game environment. The suggestion is that most players don’t want intense PvP or high-stakes gameplay while performing mundane tasks in-game.
  3. "99 billion served" and funding the game: The phrase likely refers to reaching a large player base (99 billion could be an exaggerated number), which contributes to the success and funding of the game. The term "tit suckin sickos" is a crude reference to those who enjoy certain aspects of the game, perhaps referring to players who seek less wholesome, more controversial parts of the experience (e.g., toxic PvP players).
  4. PvP item loot: The speaker claims that even the most toxic and amoral players—who thrive on making others miserable—can’t handle a server with item loot PvP. This means a type of PvP server where players can lose items permanently when they are killed by other players, raising the stakes of each interaction.
  5. Toxic PvP players avoiding high-risk servers: Even experienced PvP players, known for being skilled or "raw talents," are unwilling to engage in this type of server due to the high risk involved. The speaker acknowledges this as a small minority (players who are into PvP) within an even smaller group (those who can handle extreme risks).
In summary, the speaker is discussing how most players prefer less stressful, non-PvP gameplay, and how even the most dedicated PvP players often shy away from high-risk, high-reward servers with item looting because the stakes are too high for them. The tone is a bit cynical but provides insight into how different player types might approach server settings in a game.

If not it's the best impression of one I've ever seen. "(99 billion could be an exaggerated number)"

They are finally adding friendlist? How long has this shit been in development and such basic functions arent in or half baked? Friendlist and ability to promote players in a guild should have been some of the easier to implement functions.

When he said it was in Alpha, he really meant it was in Alpha. lol Shits too clunky for me to put much time into it right now. POE2 comes out tomorrow and everyones hyped for that. Ill check back on AOC afterwards.

I knew it was alpha, thats all fine and dandy. However a friendlist is some of the most basic of basic - like you can invite to your guild but thats where it ends. Dont get me wrong, ive likely sunk in 200hr since Nov 8 into this game already and its only going to expand. That aside i cant tell what the focus has been on the game/content leading up to that point.

Yeah I plan to check back in on the next reset. I wonder how many will just stop playing it because of PoE2 and the reset in 2 weeks.

Removing half the servers and forcing everyone to fight over the already limited grouping/xp areas is a huge turn off. 300 people afk at events because there are no mobs at camps is nonsense but better than wasting time trying to fight for the limited mobs.

Last phase they spent more time nerfing items and increasing named mob respawns. If you’re going to make gear even more sparse than it already is then don’t be mad when your base spends more time trying to circumvent shit. Named mob respawn went from 15 min to 1 hour. So all the gear you could get was random drops.

id have rather them fix the map, mini map, the fact you can’t even promote people in guild or a lot of the other base functions you’d expect at this point. Loot, exploited or not is of little concern considering at 25 you won’t have much to do with it anyways except farm gear for alts or do some trade skills.

Game is fun but bard is uninspired, game direction is all over the place, tanks need help due to how frequently they die and lose xp/gold.

Oh yeah, flash bangs even when you’re indoors is silly.

Yeah, was not nearly as excited for this phase. The game just has such a long ways to go. The last phase was supposed to be about servers and what they could handle etc. It seems like this phase is no different. I lose connection every 10 minutes when in a crowded area, due to timing out. I will just wait a while. Maybe catch it again in May when hopefully they have most of the network issues finally figured out.

I've lost so much interest just due to this server squish. Spent 2 hours trying to find a decent camp but its so fuckin crowded that this now feels like work instead of play and i can take a pass on that shit. About to run my happy ass to titan ring and watch a movie while swinging my sword at rando minos during the event.

It's the law of diminishing returns. Things have to get worse before they get better. The fatal mistake Ashes made was to show how big the map was.
