When I was a young man becoming interested in politics for the first time, I saw a 9/11 "inside job" conspiracy video. I didn't know anything about anything, and the video seemed really convincing to me. I bought into it and showed it to my older sister and her husband. They made fun of me AND explained to me why the video was pure bullshit. The former did not preclude the latter. Ridicule coupled with rational argument. It worked on me, and that's exactly what I've done with Anita. Attacking her personally goes hand in hand with attacking her bad ideas. If the discussion was about psychics rather than video games, I'd be shitting all over Sylvia Browne.

Some ideas are so offensively stupid that just calmly and "legitimately" critiquing them only serves to lend them undue credibility. Prominent atheists have stopped debating certain morons for similar reasons.

You're living in a fantasy if you don't think ridicule works. I think I can speak with some level of authority on this matter.

In fact, if your sister and her husband had ONLY made fun of you, you may very well have seen them as sheep who were not yet ready for the "truth" and were in fact so committed to their false narrative that they instinctively mocked anyone who challenged their outdated beliefs. The claims that Sarkeesian is a liar, a fraud and a cheat have yet to be backed up by anything substantial, so they are completely worthless and, again, only serve to illustrate your own eagerness to abandon logic and reason in favor of mudslinging.

It's a good game, too. I quite enjoyed it. Did you ever stop to think it might have gotten good reviews because it uses the interactivity of the medium to deliver a poignant and emotional story in a unique and engaging way? Seems to me you stopped at "lesbians!!!" I'll agree it was not a hard game, but it was fun and it was interesting. And I'm not an SJW puppet or a journalist pushing an agenda either. I'm a gamer who likes games.

Not everything presented on a monitor that you interact with through a keyboard/controller is a game. Gone Home and experiences like it, are closer to interactive digital novellas than they are to 'games'.

I'm not sure how this is at all relevant to any conversation we've had in the last month, though. *shrug*

Being cryptic does not always mean you are a good story. Dark Souls is a game where cryptic and atmosphere work due to its circles and time displacement and erstaz history work in its favor. A game where you walk through a house does not work in its favor. Japan does those types of things very well, and zero people say those are 10/10 games...and they have HUGE STRIPPER tits and all that stuff. Gone home may be an 7-8 in an honest review..which should be praised (state of game reviews where EVERYTHING is an 8 notwithstanding), but it is certainly not a once in a generation game.

You didn't answer my question. You don't think Gone Home is a video game. What should be done? Should it be taken off Steam? Should it be explicitly labelled as "not a video game"? For what purpose? To prevent what? What difference could it make to anything if Gone Home is considered a "video game" to the general population?
