saw it today as well, was fine. Honestly better than I expected given how dog shit the latest Thor and Ant Man's were, but nowhere near the highs of MCU. Good wrap up of GOTG though and thats another thread thats now ended.

Only minor quibble I'd say is one new "villain" (AW) is completely unnecessary and should have been cut out of the movie completely so they could have expanded the main villain. The main villain is super underbaked and you only see the bare minimum to establish them as a villain, the movie would have been a lot better with more backstory and world building there. I also wish there was more done with Nowhere.

No real reason to see it in theaters, but if you're bored its not the worst way to spend 2.5 hours. I wasn't bored during the movie, thats high praise in phase 4/5 of MCU.

A bit of a bummer that the recent GOTG video game had a way, way more satisfying story and use of characters.

I saw this today, and I liked it. It didn't really feel like the final GotG movie, but I guess it was. It had a few parts that hit on the emotions. Good soundtrack (that's a given). The story was good as well. The red color of the opponent's world ship thing kept making me think of Galactus. At least the helmet of Galactus.

Saw it today and it was a solid entry into the series, as noted it did hit the feels a few times. Was a little slow at times but really was entertaining and well worth the watch.

A solid 8 out of 10 for Marvel Movies.
Adam Warlock. One of Marvel's best characters, ever... Was a worthless Piece of Shit with Zero redeeming qualities, and was nothing like Adam Warlock AT FUCKING ALL. He was just generic super powered person number 4 basically. Nothing he did , outside of flying and energy blasts, was Adam Warlock powers. If he was not in this movie, nothing would have changed or ended differently. Someone else would have just got Starlord at the end. I love Adam Warlock, and they did him massively dirty with this waste of a character.

Yeah, Warlock should have been used in place of Captain Marvel in Infinity Wars. I think theyre trying to keep characters not over powered like superman but then they do Captain Marvel because girl power

I'm already wanting to see it again especially all the Rocket stuff. So it's getting a FoH approval from me

Edit - Gunn knows how to make weird characters great and Cosmo was funny and badass like Eagly from peacmaker

Disney and Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” is charting slightly ahead of expectations at the box-office.

As of today, the film is on track for a global debut of over $260 million, with international markets coming in higher than expected, whereas domestic is on track for the $110 million that was projected earlier this week.

As of the end of Friday, the film had taken in $71.5 million overseas, which is expected to jump to over $150 million by the end of Sunday. It’s also seemingly going well in both China and Korea which have been soft on some recent Marvel fare.

Meanwhile, in North America the film pulled in $48.2 million on its opening day. That number includes $17.5 million in Thursday previews. It’s now very much on track to rack up the second-highest opening of the year, behind only the $146 million debut of “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” in its Friday-Sunday first weekend.

Despite the softer critical reviews, the film also landed an A CinemaScore with audiences, bringing it in line with the other two films in the franchise. It’s a welcome shift for Marvel, whose more recent fare have often been scoring in the B’s.

eh going to spoiler this just in case but it's not really a plot spoiler
As mentioned earlier, the editing of this film seems rushed as fuck which is really the only bad thing I can say about the film. Yes its typical that Marvel films cut dramatic moments with Humor, especially gotg/thor films, but this film does far more than that. It jumps from visceral body gore to comedy to psychological horror to action back to torture porn without any rhyme or reason, thematically it's all over the place. The pacing/editing reminded me of the original Suicide Squad. With all the obvious shit cuts that you can just tell the studio had someone else go back and edit the film to change major arcs because it screened poorly. This is what GOTG3 felt like. I'm not saying that the studio editted the film, but at least it does feel like it was rushed so that Gunn could take the DCEU job.

Also it felt like, a fucking M Night Shamalyan film. not his earlier works which were good, the middle ones and later. Where the audience knows there's going to be a twist so he had to keep adding more and more elaborate mindfuck scenes to conceal the "twist" ending and it just got ridiculous. Specifically i'm talking about teasing of killing off characters. Every 5 minutes felt like a fake out that he was gonna kill off "X" character and of course, nobody fucking dies.

Also did I miss it or did they just completely overlook the whole Gamora question?

Starlord's (2019?) Gamora died for the soul gem in Infinity War. Then 2014 Nebula disguises herself as 2019 Nebula and summons 2014 Thanos and his entire army into 2025? Avenger's headquarters in upper NY for End Games final battle.

Iron Man uses the infinity stones to wipe out thanos army, and in that moment 2014 Gamora disappears. She does not exist anywhere on any scanner. The logical conclusion is Iron Man's snap took her out as well since she was in fact part of 2014 Thanos's army.

Thor joins up with the guardians to become Asguardians' the Galaxy, they hop on the only fucking spaceship on earth and head off in to space in the search for Gamora, who again, no trace of her exists anywhere.

Thor 4, the guardians are little more than an intro workout montage for fat thor to become fit thor again, and they part ways, no gamora found.

Christmas special, they are living on Knowhere but no mention of Gamora.

GOTG3, Since its been so long without finding Gamora, Starlord is now a depressed borderline alcoholic since the love of his life is gone forever.

Just kidding, she was with the Ravagers the entire time?

what? How did she leave the avengers compound in NY?

if you haven't seen it in the news, the seen where Groot actually says "I love you" is for the audience finally understanding him over watching him for years. Pretty much a thank to all the fans over the past 10 years

There was a nice nod to this just before in the movie as well since Gamora the whole film can never understand Groot. At the end in Knowhere, though, Groot says something to her and she just responds like normal, then suddenly realizes she can understand him.

Decent movie, I enjoyed it. Only went because coworkers wanted to make an event of it again. Not sure I'd watch this again anytime soon though. Particularly since one of my favorite characters of all time, Adam Warlock, was a complete fucking waste in this movie. And in general. He was a bumbling child, and I'm not sure if that was supposed to be funny, because it was just sad how they completely eviscerated the character. Don't get me wrong, I understand that his origins in the comics as Him are very similar to how he was portrayed here...but no one wants to see that. Or at least I didn't. We got to see plenty of Marvel characters come into their powers, but it was never this painful. There was usually some point to it, or just a hint, or it had a reason to be there (Gamora as a kid, for example. Speaking of, that little girl Gamora was already more intelligent than this Adam Warlock).

Objectively I can say it was a mid-tier Marvel movie, better than most anything that has come out from them in years, but even without the Warlock bullshit I just don't know if it has a lot that makes me want to rewatch it.

final weekend numbers put it up to $118m, so guess it only has to worry about Fast X next week.

It's definitely going to vastly outperform Ant-Man 3 when it's done, though somewhat doubtful it will beat the other two movies in the series.
