You live in a state that is the laughing stock of the country. We love it when you criticize other places because you live in the worst place. Name 5 good things that have ever come out of your state.
Again with the Alabama argument? Let me repeat why you should not only respect our state, but your should be in awe of what we have accomplished. Bear Bryant was one of the very first college coaches to recognize the importance of black athletes. By 1973, one-third of the team's starters were black.* Teams average between 15-25 scholarships a year, and the majority of those are going to poor, but very talented black athletes. If we use a low number, such as 18, that is 18 scholarships a year to poor, disadvantaged black kids who now have a free ride to a major university and their opportunity to get a college education, courtesy of the state of Alabama. The very state you so detest. If we look at those numbers, that is 40 years of scholarships, or 720 black athletes who now, not only have the opportunity to get a college degree, but can now also play in the NFL making millions and millions of dollars.
Now we know that Alabama has had over 300 of its football players drafted into the NFL, and as we near 2014, the majority of those kids are black. They come from poor neighborhoods in and around the south. We also have the University of Auburn which is renowned for its football team as well. And again, Auburn gives out currently around 25 scholarships a year, the majority of those to black student athletes. This mean yearly, the state of Alabama is giving around 50 black kids a free education and the chance to get their diploma and get drafted into the NFL.
You point to your government programs that provide foodstamps and welfare to the poor, I point to our football programs which provides kids an opportunity to make something of their lives, get an education, and play professional sports for a living making ridiculous amounts of money, living in ridiculous houses, and sending their own kids to college. Can your fucking foodstamp program do what the state of Alabama does for the poor black people living in your state?
