Yea, Vincent D'Onofrio's character was one of my complaints as we drove home. Shit wasn't supposed to be some tight sensible story though, and seeing it in 3D was worth it for a change. This is core popcorn flick territory. You can't expect every movie to challenge you. A lot of it is just spectacle. And it was better than Michael Bay. They only used a fireball explosion one time. The buddy cop thing with the Tyrannosaurus Rex and the Velociraptor at the end was off the mark though. My mind was torn between smiling at the death of the Indominus Rex and cringing at the victors.

People did not go into this expecting Citizen Kane or 2001. They went in expecting dinosaurs smashing stuff and an attempt at recapturing the magic of the first film.

I thoroughly enjoyed the dinosaurs smashing stuff. It spoke well to my inner child. I enjoyed the destructive rampage of the dinosaurs almost as much as I enjoyed Hulk spouting 'Puny God'.

It was not as good as the first, but that was also a unique movie based off of an amazing book, with one of the greatest directors of our age combining proven old techniques with then 'cutting edge' technology.

It managed to capture some of the magic and if you are an 8-12 year old child, seeing this movie will probably be one of the memories that sticks with you for a huge chunk of your life, just as seeing the first film has found a spot in the hearts and minds of the generation that saw it. The film is not perfect. It certainly had several flaws. Some spots of poor acting. Some spots of less-than-perfect CGI integration. But it was enough to give me that feeling of awe and wonder that the first film did twenty-two years ago.
I wasn't expecting Citizen Kane or 2001. What I was expecting for the $100 that I spent to take three of my nephews to see this was to be entertained. The plot was God awful, the acting was even worse than awful, and one of the things that made the original movie so great (besides the great CGI which this one didn't have either) was the suspense it built up in so many of the scenes (The first time the T-rex shows up, the raptors hunting down the children in the kitchen, the other raptors chasing the others trying to restart the power, etc?). This movie wasn't suspenseful at all. Not even a little bit. And the ending was atrocious. I was expecting the dinosaur at the end to give the humans a fucking bro hug for fuck's sake. So again my question is for those who said they liked it is, what exactly did you like about it?

The park was actually more realistic than the original with the resort design that handled 20k+ at any given time. Logistically, the original park made it seem like it was built for tens of visitors at most with the small ass spinning intro room, jeeps on rails, and high end tiny expensive dining room but of course none of that is scalable. The "trained" raptor pack were believable, learning behavior for easy food rewards but still ready to munch the idiot intern and turn on Ingen. I can only assume they had other raptors on the island that were regular attractions and not part of the special program so Blue won't be alone at the end. Muldoon was a favorite character from the 1st and Chris Pratt followed in that vein and blatantly called them on their bullshit. Glorified publicist girl, stupid assistant (love that she got ate btw), IT guys, and high school kid running the gyro ball ride like the drive thru at Wendy's are exactly what you'd expect. Shady experimentation and bioweapon programs going on behind the scenes with the same Law and Order lab tech was a nice touch.

Some plot details were dumb, yes but better writing doesn't change the movie flow much. Remove all of the bad radio reception parts, have the D-rex actually scale the wall or bury itself to avoid the thermals and hell maybe even tunnel out. Put legit barriers between a restricted area and where they have freakin' brontosaurus (which the D-rex could still get through). Make an aviary that isn't a fragile snowglobe while showing and letting loose the remaining carnivore species to attack the resort and destroy all of the helicopters and planes they would obviously have. The ending is supposed to be dino vs dino but the call sign raptors shouldn't have gone out like pussies. Actually, all of that stuff was basically dumbed down to insert the 2 kids in various DANGER scenes for demographic appeal. No, you're not going to get an adult R rated Jurassic Park. But you did get something better than the previous two sequels.

I have to agree it was pretty bad. For some unknown reason, and I have no idea why, I thought Spielberg directed this. When his name was absent from the opening credits, I realized I just made a mistake. I already set the bar impossibly high.

You're pretty much paying to see CGI dinosaurs fight each other, which I'm sure most kids under 12 are going to love. But the movie failed to recapture any of the sense of wonderment that the original did so very well (save for a few bits of nostalgia). Quirky IT department? Check. Two kids in trouble? Check. Evil military contractor? Oh God make it stop...

Your problem was kids I think. Then it wouldn't have cost $100!

Yeah, Jesus, if I had to spend $100 to take 4 people to the movies I'd never go. For a matinee the absolute most you should have to pay would be $40 I'd think (I realize it can vary by location), and then don't freaking eat at the theater.

I'm pretty sure I would have even been disappointed with Fury Road if I had to spend $100 to see it. Fuck!

I enjoyed this much more than i thought I would based on the previews. I wouldn't call it a very good movie or anything, just enjoyable. I also saw it in 3D and enjoyed that aspect of it and I'm not someone that ever really opts for 3D over standard (showtimes just didn't line up for me yesterday).

The plot was really dumb, but I liked that they didn't spend much time on it. Set up the brothers, show us Chris Pratt and his raptorbros then start the action.

I think the movie missed a really suspenseful moment. Especially considering there are two incredible ones in the first movie, but that's a pretty minor complaint.

Had fun. Don't go in expecting anything special and you'll enjoy yourself.

6/10 for me.

I have to agree with the person who said it wasn't suspenseful. It felt like a straight up predictable action movie with a "single" dino as the bad guy making the other dinos as its henchmen. Only cared about Pratt really, where as in the original you cared about most all the characters - even little Timmy, maybe not so much the "I know Unix" chick. A few tweaks and it could have been a solid 8/10.

Were the three kids entertained? If yes, then you only wasted the money you spent on yourself. If no, then all four of you are fucking lame.

My youngest nephew, who is 9, enjoyed it. The other two, 17 and 12, thought it sucked as well. So I guess if you're under 10, or have the IQ of someone under 10, you enjoyed this tripe.

Totally forgettable cash grab. Even Jurassic Park II is light years ahead of this dumb as fuck "action flick". What is it with the "go in with low expectations and you will enjoy it" bullshit? One of the most beloved movie franchises of all time, and they phoned it in. I nearly gagged when "cold-hearted corporate bitch - instantly turned - maternal instinct driven heroin" outruns, er... leads T-Rex (Fido) into battle with her red Olympic Flame.

...the movie failed to recapture any of the sense of wonderment that the original did so very well...
Exactly.

One of the worst movies I've seen in a long time. This movie tried SO hard to be just like the original, but completely failed at every single instance. Me and my wife were laughing at how bad and corny the movie was near the end. Terrible acting, straight up retarded plot, dumb fucking kids, characters that you just don't give a shit about, dino's about to give bro fists to their human companions. I set my expectations way low for this, and the movie was still a steaming pile. I even wen't to a theater with lazyboy recliners, and an open bar, got wasted, and was still not amused. Jurassic Park should have just ended after the first movie.

Its amusingly predictable to see the people posting who didn't like the movie, could almost set your watch to it. I think its amazing that they can resurrect a franchise after 14 years of inactivity on athirdsequel, and break all opening day/weekend records ever. When the first movie came out, a lot of us were kids, and now potentially have kids. I know that Discovery Channel and BBC produce far more dinosaur stuff than they used to 22 years ago, so its not like this movie will inspire another dinosaur renaissance like the first one; but its always nice to have a big tentpole movie to get the new generation into dinosaurs

All of the actors were pretty forgettable, the stars of the movie were undoubtedly the dinosaurs and I feel like they did a good job of making the movie about them. The kids in this one weren't nearly as bad as the first one. Not suspenseful? I think you guys have seen too many tranny dicks or scat and are forgetting you're not 10 anymore, movie had suspense, wife clutched my arm a few times.

Thought it was pretty enjoyable. Went in with expectations that the plot would probably be silly as fuck. The fact that they brought in places and things from the original was a major highlight for me. The biggest gripe I had was the older brother.

My gf did the same and that was the most suspenseful of the entire movie, when was she going to crush my arm.

You can't compare anything in this movie to the t rex paddock or raptor kitchen scenes in the first movie. There just wasn't anything on that level. I understand they were doing a little call back with the hybrid guy crushing the ball car but that scene lasted what, 20 seconds?

This was an action movie through and through and my comment was simply based around the idea that if they were so intent on recapturing the feeling of the first movie, they really missed out by the lack of any similar scenes.

Like I said, I think you're just forgetting you're older now and you've seen some things. Suspense in the first movie like omg is the car going to fall out of the tree, or omg is this dumb kid going to get fried, or is this super hacker girl going to hack the computer in time? All suspense elements that had nothing to do with dinosaurs and I could have done without. The ball car scene was way longer than 20s, it had that whole cool spikey tail fight. All 3x they hunted the hybrid dinosaur were fairly suspenseful.

You got the same effect the park goers in the movie have. Outrunning a t-rex in a jeep 20 years ago was suspenseful to you, because you hadn't seen it before, now you are so desensitized to such things, not so much.
