Don't get all the complaints about the kids. The kid(s) sucked in 1 and 2 also, 3 didn't really have a kid because the kid was basically just a small adult rather than a child. I'd rather they included some throwaway bit about 'mom and dad are getting a divorce waaaah' that never comes back up in the movie than some bit about 'im good with computers' or 'i took gymnastics' which leads to a painfully dumb 'ITS A UNIX SYSTEM' moment or a gymnastics kung fu scene.

Yeah, movie was enjoyable but very easy to pick apart with stuff like that. Even a scene to start where the kids were working on a car would have at least justified that. Could have dropped the divorce bullshit that was meaningless for that.

I didn't realise that this movie was a comedy?

All of the female characters are incompetent or bitches and even half of them have scenes where they randomly fall over, it's the opposite of "feminist" Max Mad.
A single raptor running in the save the day against the Drex with explosions in the background was fucking hilarious, the fuck is one raptor (or four raptors) supposed to do?
Then once the Drex is dead, the Trex turns to look at the human characters, nods "we are cool bro" and walks off, like an anti hero would in a regular film. Then the raptor does it!

I haven't laughed so much in a cinema for a long time.

The movie was fun. I was entertained. I do have one complaint though:

So I'm guessing they just left the black guy in the tree?
You see him at the end of it in the shelter with everyone.

I did wonder about that too, like "Huh, that guys just gonna chill in that log for a while with his revolver? Better hope that engineered dino doesn't smell him and just eat the log too".

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Sure I could sit here and nitpick stuff, but overall I left the theater feeling entertained, and that's all I ever really expect. Something like Mad Max is rare and special when it happens, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying "lesser" movies as well.

This movie is destroying the box office

Jurassic World takes $511m in record opening weekend - BBC News

The fourth instalment in the Jurassic Park series has become the first film to take more than $500m at the box office on its opening weekend.

Jurassic World was the most popular screening in all 66 countries where it was released.

The film made $204.6m (?131.4m) in the US, according to the firm Exhibitor Relations.

It took $100m in China and $29.6m (?19m) in the UK and Ireland as part of the record global total of $511.8m.

The Universal Pictures release had the second-highest grossing opening weekend in the US.

The record is held by Marvel's The Avengers, which took $207.4m in 2012...

I honestly think Chris Pratt sold this movie. If you had Johnny Jepp/Channing riding a bike with raptors the results would be different

The movie was a decent 7 or an 8, obviously they didn't want to spend too much time and effort going for a 9+ but they aimed for better than the other sequels and delivered. As long as they don't cast the son from Die Hard 5 in the next one they're golden.

In the end you are right. I left the theater feeling entertained and that is what should matter most. I'll spoiler some complaints because they're very nitpicky and ultimately don't matter...

I think the movie would have benefited greatly from some re-editing. There are things that just don't make any sense or are completely unnecessary. Like someone mentioned, the whole parents divorce thing, his girlfriend, him staring at chicks. It doesn't even really build character or make him more sympathetic of a kid. Then there are lines like, "Hey do you still have those matches?" Which make no sense unless they cut a scene where they first established he had matches. They rebuild / fix a 20+ year old Jeep because the little kid rebuilt some car? There was a throwaway line that tried to justify it... The timing of the jokes was also off in parts. Like after jumping down the waterfall after almost dying to a huge fucking terrifying dinosaur they're all, "tee hee we jumped! giggle" Or after the dude gets killed by the raptor in the back of the getaway van and Bryce Dallas Howard is all, "don't tell your parents about this! *wink*" There was also the point when it was night time suddenly... And when the kids drive that Jeep off and then Chris Pratt shows up with BDH. They kids drive the jeep "a distance" back to the main area, but Pratt and Howard just walk in to the next scene suddenly at the base... the compositing of the CGI and live action looked terrible in spots also.

Anyways, that is my rant. It was worth the price of admission and glad to have seen it.

If you are going into the theater to watch this for any other reason than to see dinosaur battles, you are doing it wrong.

Amazing. It broke the Avengers opening weekend record after the finals were in (yet another higher than estimated day). I don't think anyone had predictions higher than $130 and it completely demolished them.

Imagine if the Transformers movies actually had robots fighting other robots and a non-shit lead. Or, you know, more dinosaurs.

Saw it in 3D and loved it.

And I really bought Pratt as an asshole. He wasn't cracking jokes and trying to warm up to anyone. He was like "if you ride, you gonna fall". They rode. They fell. Pratt for Indiana 2016.

Saw it again and I noticed something really awesome.

The T-Rex in Jurassic World had healed scars on his neck and side meaning he was the same T-Rex that fought/ate the raptors at the end of the first movie.
