Just finished watching and holy shit, movie was everything I could have wanted. Can't believe I missed it in theaters.
MEDIOCRE

I really do love how Furiosa was the hero(ine). Max was just along for the ride. I mean it's a penultimate action movie in an action movie franchise completely full of warboi's and v8's and hemmies and testosterone to the max... and you have this one absolutely bad ass one armed woman. LIKE A BOSS.

This is what new wave feminism should be.

Kind of bummed that steelbook doesn't have the 3D version, as this is one of the few movies I actually enjoyed the 3D. Not sure if I want to switch my Amazon 3D order to this one or not, or try for one of the foreign steelbooks that includes 3D. I know I won't watch it in 3D most of the time, but having the option is sort of nice, particularly if I want to show some of the misguided souls that haven't seen the movie yet.

That sequence at the end of the fuel tanker truck erupting in flaming explosions was awesome!!

Because you could see it was 100% real and with the close proximity of the camera cars just enhanced every element. Incredible!!

video game and blu rays are out today, the video game is pretty good it really captures the mad max vibe. its got some story points tied to the movie (locations etc) but the voice acting and character look is more its own thing. Really enjoyable game if you like open world games like Far Cry or Batman, the combat is very very much Batman-ish.

I really thought this movie would be totally ignored other than Special Effects.

It's about time non-mainstream movies and their actors won awards. There's been a lot of movies over the years not taken seriously enough for the actors to be nominated. Val Kilmer's Doc Holliday I mentioned earlier in this thread, Empire Strikes Back, Every Kubrick film and even a few Hitchcocks.

About fucking time.

Yeah, that's fine and all, but let's not call movies like Fury Road, Tombstone, and Empire Strikes Back as "non-mainstream movies." That's a literally retarded statement.

Edit: Damn, didn't see the next page.

Yeah the non-mainstream filmmaker who brought us both Happy Feets, Babe and the Witches of Eastwick.

The tragedy in all this is he wanted to keep making Mad Max movies, but warner sidetracked him with all that other shit. Now he's old and awaited in Valhalla and we get maybe 2 more films if we're lucky.

What I love about that final crash is the pre planning involved to actually crash the actual real truck in such a way that it does the path blocking that you "planned" it to.

While the only thing added to the end, was a cg insert of the actual real guitar shot- but I think the raw cut of it as in the bts reel it looks insanely real (duh) and better.

I had forgotten about this movie, but I watched this yesterday for free on a plane and had to buy it this morning and rewatch it on a proper set up. So fucking good.

Kevin Smith's podcast/review of the movie actually got fairly inside-baseball about the movie. Apparently the visual effects/stunt coordinator guy was retiring and wanted to make a movie that would spite CGI and show the best practical effects could offer. In a bit of a spin, they actually pared down the CGI on some shots because it diminished/interfered with the amazing practical effects whereas in other movies it's the other way around.
