I'm still using a 3080 and I think it is time to upgrade. I'm going to build an entire new pc.

I don't like it but I will pay up too retail for the 5090, any way to realistically buy one? I signed up for in-stock notifications at Nvidia.com and Bestbuy.com...

You could make it years with moderate use.

If you are repeatedly downloading entire libraries, maxing the 4tb SSD out, deleting and redownloading teras of library rinse repeat as a habit then you are looking at some long term reliability issues that the 1tb and to a lesser extent the 2tb won't encounter. A larger capacity drive will have a shorter lifespan due to the increased number of write cycles it needs to handle when storing large amounts of data.

I'd keep a 990 Samsung with the essentials on it separate just as a rule of thumb as someone who has dealt with CPU failure and a ruined drive for other reasons.

If you have the worst of the bunch there just take it easy on filling and wiping stuff.

Oh ok, she'll never do that... I checked and it's at 0% wear still, but like all our ssd's I'll check it every ~6 months to make sure it's behaving...

I’ll give it a shot on Best Buy while laying on the couch. Not going crazy or out of my way. If there’s a site that uses Shop Pay or Apple Pay those are usually way faster so will improve your odds.

Fuck Best Buy, I had the 5090 in my cart at the check out screen and it locked up 3x, the it was gone. Fuck Nvidia too, this launch is anemic.

nvidia marketplace came up for a bit and let me try to buy one but then crashed. Bestbuy as I furiously refresh sometimes lets me try to add one to the cart.
