He's just being an idiot.

The 5090 is not a generational leap, it's an upscaled 4090 basically. It's not great, but since we can't get 4090s NIB anymore, it's what we're stuck with.

people that think AI is gonna crash are now the delusional ones. businesses are training models now on proprietary data. you're not seeing shit right now because any company worth a shit is not uploading their stuff into chatgpt/microsoft because of trade secrets and contracts. this isnt just so people can ask little dumb questions to a chat bot, this is so entire departments can be replaced. it is a reason "AI trainer" is a high rising career trend. it is a reason "AI agents" is going to be a hot SaaS market.
Some of them will def flop.

Ok, elaborate you summa bitch!
The complete lack of performance-per-watt and performance-per-dollar gains is extremely disappointing.

They literally just made the thing bigger.

LOL at these prices. So fucking glad I grabbed my 3080 at like $800. This little piggy will have to do for another few years!

5090 doesn't seem to be that bad. You really think it sucks?
Most of the reviewers don’t like the cards because of the price point for the 5090, and the lower performance leap based on previous generations for the 5080. Looking at the performance charts, the 5090 is a good card, but at a really high cost, and not as big of a generational jump. Especially for the AIB cards. The 5080 is disappointing for sure, but it’s better than anything at that price point right now if you can get your hands on one. If $2000 doesn’t break the bank, then who cares.

Looking at video cards right now, the only cards at non scalped prices and generally available are the 7900xtx at 900ish and 4060 at maybe 400. Those are just bad choices.

Maybe the 5070ti release will be better, because AMDs not even trying to compete.

Scalpers definitely need to all be lined up and shot.
Sadly in 2025 anything remotely in demand is heavily controlled by scalpers. It's the same exact story with every consumer product that has limited stock.

Yup. This is the downside to everything being sold "digitally" now. Bots have control of the market.

Well I'm safe, the nearest Best Buy is 45 minutes away and the near microcenter 6 hours away. But $5k I could buy a couple of guns, or a couple of very nicely fitted out kayaks, a new guitar or amp or both together, or a vacation somewhere. Something.

Sucks is relative. I don't think it's worth wasting $2k on. Seems the 4090 is still the clear winner.
That would be true if you could get a 4090 for msrp. The only ones I see for sale are the same price as, or more expensive than the 5090.

Or risk something second hand, that will probably be a brick with rtx painted on it.
