Not a fan of scalpers, but if it wasn’t for the low supply, scalping wouldn’t be such an issue. Nvidia created this environment knowingly by not having much stock, when they had to roughly know the demand. It seems like the last 40 series launch wasn’t such a dumpster fire? I only pay attention every five years, which is how often I build a new gaming PC. Last time I was up against coin farming, now it’s data centers.

Last time it was mining/farming; this time its Nvidia by design. 40-series launch had way, way more stock because Nvidia was trying to combat scalping, now they are trying to have their cake and eat it too and inflate prices via AIBs but keep mainline MSRPs down.

My card is starting to whine at times. It's not whining enough to spend $5k, I'll do with less I guess.

I think a number of those people didn't have anything else to do or it was a social event. Having a tent and a grille they were cooking on. In my day we called that camping.

How was the 4000 series supply? When did it stabilize? Were they ever readily available from retailers for normal price?

I currently have a 3060ti, I'd like to eventually get a 5070ti or 5080.

Good lord that’s waaaaay too much. The gpu is more than I paid for my prebuilt 4090 gpu, 9950 cpu system and it was considered a top of the line system when I got it last year.

I have a prebuilt with a 5090 coming that the whole damn build cost 4500 or so.

Grats. I’m loving mine and haven’t experienced any issues at all. Every game I can run at max settings with excellent frame rate. I can’t wait to play more of Monster Hunter Wilds on it. Only game that gave me a hit was Cyberpunk. Honestly it will be a long time before I upgrade. This is starting to get too expensive.

A friend of mine ordered a prebuilt for around that with a supposed march/april delivery, but it ended up being cancelled by the company or some shit.

Maybe in a few months, maybe before the end of the year. One of the GamersNexus theories is that they just started manufacturing them, so they released way to early without any stock. I'm in the same boat as you with a 3070. If I can get a 5070ti, 5080 or 5090 sometime this year I'll be happy.
