Elond and Galadriel have a kissing scene. His great grandfather was her cousin.

Also they copied the "look to the west" scene from Helm's Deep where Gandalf shows up with Eomer to save the day... instead it's "look to the north" for Durin to show up... but he doesn't and it's just one horse with a half dead elf so Elrond cries.

Negrolass is dead though I think.

A quick search says he used it as cover to pass her a lockpick. It's still gross but not like they're just playing tonsil hockey for funsies.

The fact that he marries her daughter makes kissing her quite a bit weirder than their basically non-existent blood relation though, that's like complaining about Arwen and Elrond both being "related" to Aragorn.

Oh shit, forgot about that.

Wouldn't her daughter and Arwen's birth be an obvious thing to mess up the timeline to include!?

He could have just hugged her, there was no need for a kiss.

There was also no need to pretend she hasn't already been married to Celeborn for thousands of years at this point and that she ruled Eregion with him instead of being some madcap wannabe girlboss running around like a headless chicken.

Nice. I checked wikipedia to check and even that is more exciting than Rings if Power.

Galadriel ruled Eregion and Celebrimbor seized power to work with Annatar, whom Galadriel mistrusted. She left for Lothlorien via Moria but Celeborn stayed behind because he hated Dwarves - I guess because of them destroying the Elf Kindom they lived in to get a Silmaril in the 1st age.

In the last two episodes the amount of "remember when the movies said/did this" "remember" "remember" "remember" was overwhelming. It's like they are saying "Well we printed out the movie scripts that all of you love and we copy/pasted bits without understanding how they were made meaningful" as to almost make a mockery of it.

My motivation to continue to watch stands upon the edge of knife "REMEBER!!!" Even though I am pirating streaming it, so it wont count toward views.

Im not actually watching this trash in person. But, am getting some enjoyment out of watching reviewers trash it..

yeah this is my big take away from that. The reviewers themselves aren't really harping on this. but its something that I really have noticed. I was expecting trash, but not this. its fascinating/horrific. I don't even know how a script writer you get there. The constant. CONSTANT stealing and reusing of lines from the movies, out of context, in the wrong context, etc. Fanfic writers don't even do that. its not even homage. it seems to be more a just total lack of imagination.

I'm honestly impressed at how good people are at putting up with this stuff. I pirated the first episode (even though I have prime) and just can't bring myself to watch it. Shows like this should be outlawed.

The main writers have nothing but failed scripts to their names, and not very many of them at that. How they got handed the reigns to this is beyond me.

Little platoons, s1 followup. ep4-6. Since he took so long to get to this, there is some s2 references.

so good inclusions with Tolkiens own thoughts and notes on a previous adaptation of the LOTR, and how tolkien himself though of canon, etc.

JFC, 5 hours?

Anyway, you don't even need to watch 5 minutes...most the "Tolkien betrayed!" handwringing can be summed up in a few seconds: Amazon thought it would be a fantastic idea to spend an obscene amount of money for 5 seasons of a live action production without actually securing the rights to the fucking material that it's based on. Of course it's going to be 90%+ fan fiction horseshit.

There is a book that came out a couple years ago called The Fall of Numenor. There's no new Tolkien material in it, but it does collect virtually everything he ever wrote about the Second Age (from The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, HoME, LoTR + appendices, etc) and attempts to put it all into a chronological framework. It's not a large book to begin with, but the amount of material that the show has access to totals perhaps 9-10 pages at most.

It's like investing in a brand new baseball franchise without having access to baseball bats, gloves, or...baseballs. Sure, go for it if you insist...just don't call it fucking baseball.

Even if the lore was 100% accurate, the show would still be dogshit.

The writing is irredeemably poor. The casting is atrocious. It's full of hollywood cliche and Peter Jackson fan-service.

I’m considering cancelling my Prime membership just in case I’m tempted to watch season 3.

I have to apologize to the losers that come here and post huge diatribes every week about how much you hate a TV show that no one is forcing you to watch. I mean, you guys are losers, but this guy is a MUCH, MUCH bigger loser.
