some confusion on twitter but its been confirmed this will be THEATERS ONLY for its initial run, Disney I guess wasn't too thrilled with Mulan, Cruella, and Raya D+ $30 passes
trailer does look fun, i'll probably see it in theaters. The last few seconds show a new enemy, i wonder how its gonna work since it was a villain that appeared in one of the first Marvel movies and I don't really know who has the rights to it (obviously Disney has some level).

As long as it isn't Banner solo as the hero, Disney has full distribution rights. It's only if it's a solo Hulk movie that Universal has distribution rights.

1. the mandarin is not portrayed as a much of a threat. just his dad. whats the goal? stakes?
2. trailer also seems to put alot of effort in saying how great Shang chi is. oh, you are so special. I knew those guys couldn't take you.
so, we have a character that doesn't have to grow, because hes already great? And only stake is he has to kick his dads ass, because he has a personal connection. This is not super compelling.

I actually like Mandarin being his dad, that way when I can't tell them apart I can blame it on them being family and looking alike instead of being a racist fuck.

It looks like we are seeing the end of his (initial) journey, with flashbacks filling in his childhood? Like, there is a good portion of that trailer where he doesnt have the rings, so I imagine acquiring them will be the central conflict.
In the comics, Shang-Chi isn't a guy who is good at martial arts, he is the greatest mortal fighter that exists, he trained up Captain America and Spider-Man, he has fought gods and survived. He is literally the best a human can be at fighting without having a mutation or some super soldier serum. The conflict is not going to come from him vs some random foot soldiers.
I assume it will be between him vs his dad (and Razor Fist according to the wiki, played by the guy that played Drago in Creed 2) and whatever Fin Fang Foom (assuming that was the underwater dragon) have to challenge him before he gets the rings and gets ready to face whatever the new Avengers Villain is gonna be.

Excited might be a little strong, but MCU has mostly done a good job with having genre films within it. I've said it earlier in the thread that this looks like Jet Li or Donnie Yen type movie with a real budget so hopefully it's fun.

Well, yes. The option is what? Season two of Outer Banks? Though I will say the 1st two episodes of S2 had the blonde chick with the big rack running constantly in every seen in a halter top.

If it has lots of kung fu action in it I will probably enjoy the hell out of it. If it's 90% dialogue and feels as Shang Chi and his dad work out their family issues, I will probably hate it.
