Good article that addresses the Rotten Tomatoes thing. Even if you get past the positive or negative reviews based on just the diversity stuff alone, it mentions how there are some “meh” critical reviews that get marked as fresh because the site has no middle ground rating and frequently the site will interpret what constitutes a good or bad rating

The most telling thing is many posts online from long time SW fans are just kind of bored or unimpressed. They pick an unused setting and do nothing interesting with it. It’s like a barely average meal - you’ll eat it if you’re hungry, but you aren’t going to want to get that meal again. And if you aren’t hungry, you might decide to go without the meal or just a smaller portion of it to tide yourself over

I watched the first 2 episodes and that was pretty much it. It wasn't anything spectacular, but it also wasn't anything that pissed me off. If these actors and directors would shut their mouths there wouldn't be as much backlash, but we know that's an impossibility in Hollywood. My interest is only piqued because I want to see how bad they fuck things up in the 3rd episode.

I honestly get more entertainment listening to nerdrotic and critical drinker trash these pieces of shit than I ever would watching them. Zero interest in watching complete and utter failures, casting, writing, directing all garbage. But for some reason I laugh my ass off at Gary and Will. So happy to see them riding these train wrecks into wealth and popularity.

I can't stand watching either of those guys or most of the other channels like that. They are just as insufferable to me as these people. Easier just to watch and make up my own opinion.

If someone told me this garbage was written by the same people as the Rings of Power I would believe it.

"Critics" don't want to get locked out of the Disney perks ecosystem. No way they will give genuine reviews. It's the same shit as Video Game companies paying for reviews.

The general population of this forum is tech savvy enough to know where to watch this without having Disney+.
I tell my wife ' oh look we just signed up for Disney +' and we both know I'm full of shit.

Im just really annoyed and disappointed that Disney has access to all these good or great actors who will show up and give a great performance along with great writers just sitting around with their thumbs up their asses and Disney opts for the people with absolutely no experience or experience with piss poor results. what dumb monkey thought spending the entire budget on a very awesome looking green screen effect was the way to go when they could have just developed a competent story with legit sequel potential and actors working with a competent script to give moving performances for a much lower budget? the original budget of Star Wars 1977 was 11 million dollars. 56 million in 2024 dollars. 56 million sounds about right for an 8 episode Star Wars TV show budget. nah, spend 180 million (or much more) instead for absolute trash..

To compare with a theatrical movie hitting Disney+, Elemental did 26.4 million views in 5 days for Sep 2023 as the most watched premiere of 2023.

I'm guessing they built real sets and shot on location for some of this with the budget being 180m

It's much more expensive to do green screen ect than to shoot on locations surprisingly. There's lots of directors that talk about how the budget is so much lower shooting at multiple locations instead of using cgi/greenscreen. From what I've heard this show uses a ton of CGI

ILM's StageCraft was fairly cheap way of doing it was my understanding. A 180m StageCraft budget would be crazy.

If they used all outsourced CG and 0 StageCraft bs then I could see the 180m
