Finished it up today. This was a breath of fresh air. And I really like a show that is great throughout and doesn't fuck the ending. In fact, the ending really pulled it all together between the Vic scene and the hooker one.

In fact, if DC doesn't fuck this up, they might actually get me to watch one of their movies for once. I think the only one I ever watched was the 2021 Suicide Squad (not including Nolan's Batmans, but I honestly have no clue what the hell is supposed to be their "universe" since I feel like there's been at least 2 or 3 other Batmans since). I tried Aquaman but only made it maybe 15 minutes because it was so bad.

This is good. Batman is the only thing DC has that's worth anything. Some of the actual Batman stuff has been good but between this and Pennyworth HBO has some of the best Batman material in recent years and Batman isn't even featured in either

Batman works because even though he's plot armored to hell, he's human and most of his villains are human. Other shows are harder once you get to the absurdity of "powers" and shit. Once you have some guy that can lift 10 tons and is bullet proof, writing believable material goes into the shitter.

Great writing and acting obviously. The villain won. Completely fucked everyone over. I love me a good villain wins story. Also appreciate a real psycho. One of DC's best things about their original villains is they are all modeled off real psychological conditions seen in various sociopaths and psychopaths. Penguins is pure greed, which he masques with altruism. His obsession with his mom's attention and affection drives his passion which feeds his delusions, almost like he uses it as his center north compass to ground himself.

Farrell joins the greats in the pantheon as best movie villains along with Ledger in Dark Knight, Javier Bardem in No Country for Old Men, Denzel in Training Day, and DD Lewis in There will be Blood and the rest of the greats.

God tier writing. This is what Vince Gilligan and David Chase do so well in their series as well. Framing situations from other angles while giving amazing plot devices and character development.

Love it when villains are done so well. They really give you a reason to be invested in the story. So refreshing to get good writing again.

I agree with everything you said, but we are going to have to agree to disagree on one comparison..

DD Lewis ....Gangs of New York. His portrayal of a villain was legendary in that movie. He did a great job in There will be Blood, but it was not of the same quality.

Gangs of New York is fucking retarded and I hate everyone that likes it. My wife put this stupid fucking movie on last night for some reason. I've always thought it was the dumbest, cheesiest shit ever and I can't believe anyone voluntarily watches it more than once

Most bad movies fade from memory. That one had the opposite effect. Holy fuck was that a dumb fucking movie. I'm angry every time I hear the name.

I get how people don't like it because it's slow as fuck. But I like Denis V movies for the same reason.

I liked gangs of new york and there will be blood but wouldn't call them amazing. I'm surprised how many dick riders Daniel day Lewis has. He's pretty average to me. Definitely not a good tough guy. Looks like a little liberal panzy that would get his ass kicked by a large lesbian. I don't like him at all in tough guy roles.

Gangs of New York is really good, yeah it's a little bit silly at times, but that's Scorsese. 'No country' and 'there will be blood' are alright movies, not to my taste, but ok. None of them are bad. Best villain in a movie is still Jon Voight in Runaway Train.

Great fucking show and I was hoping for a "signal" on the final panning shot, which they nailed. Great setup for the next movie, along with the Kyle tie-in.

I was really hoping that he was going to take him under his wing, no pun intended, and maybe the ending was going to be something at least somewhat positive, despite the fact that they're all horrible people.

Vic was probably the only decent person out of the entire cast of characters. Ending is pretty gut-wrenching, but it just goes to show how well the show was done. It's definitely the best TV, scrap that though, cinematic production I've seen in a very long time.

I really hope they might do another season or at least pick up the Pattinson Batman line of stuff. I just like the tone of that movie along with the series, and I honestly think it could blow the doors off of the Nolan Batman stuff.
