What ridiculous excuse? Low birth rates are a serious concern for Russia and the entire country thinks so. The last passed 436 to 0 in the National Legislature. It's not like some one party just rammed it through, its a universal national consensus.

All he really needs to do is make it illegal for Russian women to turn 27.

Even the ugly ones are pretty cute when they're young, but the closer they get to 30 and that scarf goes on their heads... potato time.

He probably also needs a measure to combat whiskey dick. Of course Russians may have adapted to that. Is whiskey dick a problem in Russia? I ask because I do not know.

Don't worry, like 1 hour after Assad has handed over his last remaining chemical weapon to the International inspectors someone will lob a sarin tipped missile at Tel Aviv. Obama will claim that Assad was holding out one canister, and will proceed to bomb the country back to the stone age while Israel nukes Damascus.

Otherwise he's done 2 very important things: He's diverted attention from the mounting scandals that were plaguing him and he has united national opinion against purposeless warmongering lunacy. Which I will grant might have been gaining more legs than he liked and this was some elaborate fucking troll. I don't credit that governance through reverse psychology bullshit -- but I will grant that after this no one is going to give a fuck about Syria ever. If he wanted to chop McCain's dick off, maybe it wasn't the worst way to go about doing that. Not the plan, but maybe a silver lining. The issue, at least, is resting and shouldn't disturb the 2016 election.

But the NSA shit is going to come back on him. That's not a newscycle sort of scandal. So what will the next wag the dog moment be? Will Obama threaten to nuke Iran for 3 weeks and then wink at us and let us know, "I troll Putin, lolol"

BBC News - Barack Obama calls off Congress vote

US President Barack Obama has postponed a Congress vote on military action in Syria, vowing to pursue diplomacy to remove the regime's chemical weapons.

Damascus has admitted for the first time that it has chemical weapons, and has agreed to abide by a Russian plan to hand over its arsenal.

The US threatened strikes after a gas attack killed hundreds last month.

Mr Obama blames the regime and said the military would respond if talks failed. Syria blames rebels for the attack.

More than 100,000 people have died since the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad began in 2011.

The latest report by UN rights experts, released on Wednesday, says torture and rape are widespread and war crimes are being committed by both sides.
