You just have to get them practice. Also, they might have too many bars/timers running through DBM. We told everyone to turn off all timers/warnings except for the amber explosion ones. There's a ton of clutter from the other abilities if you don't. But yeah, just have to get them practice, and fucking tear into them if they aren't responding to gentle prod'ing to do better.

Some people are just dumbfucks who can't adapt to a dirt simple vehicle control interface.

"Omg...my hotbar changed!!! OH FUCK, I CAN'T FUNCTION EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE ONLY 4 BUTTONS!!!!!!"

It's either that or they use some custom UI that fucks up the vehicle interface. The main thing to remind them is the amber explosion cast bar appears UNDER the golden willpower bar. If they claim they can't see it, have them disable whatever fucking UI they are using and use the default Blizzard UI until they fix their shit or get a UI package that doesn't fuck up vehicle interfaces. If they still fuck it up, tell them to play a Battlefield 3 game and to report back when they understand the concept of different controls.

Ya, that's pretty much where I'm at. I've tried both approaches - "I don't expect perfection the first time you become a construct, but I do expect you to not make the same mistake when you become a construct again" and the "Hey <asshole>, what happened? Is your sound on? Can you hear DBM counting? When did you press your interrupt? Why did your will power hit 0? DBM gave you a 5 second warning before you will power hit 0, why did you ignore it?"

Turning off all timers except amber explosion is great advice and I will definitely have everyone doing that tonight. Thank you, gentlemen.

Ding that is more than likely most problem. My UI I had didn't show the button for meditate nor the anger bar. I got ripped it was my first time in the instance. I removed all addons and just added a few I really needed and have not had a problem since. Yeah getting ripped helped but for me it was more I could not believe I had just pulled a "one of those guys" bone headed moves. Will not happen again.

My guild has killed Amber Shaper once, and we went back to kill him again for the first time tonight. The only reason we killed him is because the three people that knew how to be constructs and not fuck up were miraculously all chosen to be constructs during phase 2. We wiped 10-15 times tonight because at least one person who rarely (1/10 pulls) gets picked for construct gets picked and wipes us. Every. Pull.

So here's my question: How do you guys train your people to not be terrible constructs? Do you endure countless wipes until the good players get picked?

People who are otherwise good (our frost mage who easily tops the charts on this fight wiped us because he let his will power hit 0, our rogue who cloaks off the parasite without being called out and does great dps wiped us several times because he didn't interrupt himself or didn't interrupt the monstrosity, etc) are wiping us when they get picked as constructs. I am soooo frustrated because there's nothing I can do to help these people get better at this fight other than telling them to watch videos and try to become a construct in lfr... I off tank and lead our raids and I'm about to the point to where I'm just going to pass around my login info and have every single person get phase 1 down while playing my tank and becoming a construct.
Hit 1 on the big dude when DBM gives you the cast warning in phase 2. Hit 2 to interrupt yourself AFTER DBM counts down from 5 (Took a few tries before I realized that you start casting after DBM gets to 1 on the countdown). Spam 4 when the raid gets you to 20%. Phase 3 spam the shit out of 1 on the boss for the huge damage and the debuff, hit 2 when you need to interrupt yourself AFTER the countdown, and when you get to 20 willpower run out and drink amber pools until you're at 100 again.

I keep trying to play this. I basically will log on, look at my friends list, dance around in front of the AH for a couple minutes then log off. I think after so long I can't do it anymore. I think MoP lasted me all of 2 weeks.

Ditto, but I don't expect any more than that. I'm ultra-mega-super-casual (not in a guild, don't even have a single person on my friends list) so I just have fun "progressing" as far as I can until I get bored of it. I can say I got my money's worth leveling and tanking a monk up to level 90, then playing DPS through all of the LFRs available. Once I did the higher tiers of LFRs twice, I haven't had the will to log in since. Speaking of which, I really should cancel my account so I don't pay for it the rest of the year without playing it like I usually do.

The biggest thing that I think recount has going for it from what I have heard though is that it synchronizes its data among everyone who is using it in order to get more accurate numbers.

skada has major problems with taint, meaning you can't change glyphs/talents without having to reload UI. Probably a lot of it is Blizzard bugs, but one reason to use recount. Also skada still doesn't work against a lot of 90 talents and glyphs, so the damage reports can be off quite a bit for some classes.

Brawlers Guild passes should be dirt cheap now, if you haven't gotten in yet definitely should do that. The fights get incredibly hard, I think I'll need 5.2 gear to finish up the rank 7 fights (or upgrade my valor gear), sucks not having a sha weapon yet. Its really a great test of individual skill, I could see Blizzard putting in some sort of raid-awareness guild tests using something similar to Brawlers Guild.

Just got started on my Relic Hunter title too, damn thats a lot of crazy stuff to find. I've collected 90% of the clickies from rare spawns now, I wish they could go into a special quest bag or something. Still, its very cool how they added a lot of flavor stuff in Pandaria, makes me roll my eyes every time I see in the nostalgia threads how people bitch that wow has lost all its vanilla-coolness. The one that turns you into the deadmines boss is awesome in raids, as is the one that lets you clone a person (clone a resto druid and stand in a campfire!)

The synching is a big performance hit, especially in a 25 man setting. I suppose I'd value it more if WoL live logging wasn't so ubiquitous.

As for tainting the UI, there are a few addons that fuck up your glyph/talent respecs, but a quick /rl fixes that so I've learned to ignore it.

Started using recount today and now wish I hadn't so far the least zone wide dmg number for me as the TANK is 44% I knew I was doing most of the work prior to seeing the numbers but now get to see just how bad most of these players who are doing random dungeon find are. I only had 2 DPS'ers do at least half my dmg today running dungeons pretty much non stop all afternoon. Just finished one where I had 1.2million next closest person was 235k. I have been playing wow now for a total of one week. I have played a lot of mmo's before but this player base skill level is abysmal. I'm hoping that once i get to 90 there will be at least some increased level of competency among players or this will be a short lived experiment into a new game.

while geared players should be beating tanks usually, and I have had a few groups where that happens (under 6 mins 5 mans is pretty cool) due to the changes to vengeance in a patch a while back the tanks tend to be very high DPS, especially whenever there are many mobs around. Basically tanks get insane attack power from being hit a lot, which in turns bumps up their DPS. Even a few heroic raid fights have tanks parsing the highest damage, like wind lord mel'jarak (the one with boss + a bunch of strong adds). so no, its not you being an awesome guy and the dps sucking shit, a lot of it has to do with the game mechanics. Unless a DPS outgears a tank they will get beaten on a lot of fights.

there is absolutely nothing wrong with that either imo, tanking is a boring job most of the time so its cool to have a mechanic in that lets them do crazy DPS. Its only the tank that has the aggro that gets this advantage, a tank that is not getting hit does fuck all. They just need to figure out a way to let healers also have a cool mechanic like this, so more people queue and play as healers.

Even though I just started playing the game, gear probably is part of it, as I only do dungeons so am full blue gear where I'm sure greens is more common at low lvl. I don't expect people to keep up with me in most mmo's I am a power gamer am play very aggressively. I just want the other players to contribute enough that I'm thankful to have them there to make it easier. The couple of players I have talked to are very new to mmo's and that is very rare to see over the years but is probably more common place in WoW with it having a main stream audience and younger player base. Last time I played wow was at release and only for a month or two. I think it's a testament to the type of game that it is, in that it is so much more approachable for a new gamer/player at this point then a game like EQ.

They kind of do with disc priests. You can heal through heroics just by dpsing, though it's pretty boring.

Iirc certain dungeons at certain levels it would be acceptable for a tank to outdmg everyone. Short aoe fights = yummy for tanks. Thats before max level though. I remember tons of people slacking in heroics but, as a tank, you will have no issue kicking or leaving groups that you dislike.
