Trust me bro 4090 owners are crying right now. I saw it in a video parroting the CEO of NVIDIA's statements. The 5090 is fucking killing it.
I mean I would kinda be pissed if the 5070 was for real better at 550$. But seems like that's impossible and includes garbage frame gen.

I would be surprised if it's more than 20% in pure rasterization between 4090 and 5090. The node jump wasn't big enough, like 3090 > 4090 was. Pleasantly surprised by the pricing given inflation between gens, but not really tempted to upgrade from 4090. Excited to watch Gamers Nexus do some tear downs.

I could be interested in a 5070 TI over my 3080 depending on availability and partner pricing. Not going to stress over it though. Performance numbers are so irritating to look at these days, though. Even in the past there were some shenanigans when they started comparing Glide vs OpenGL vs Direct3d (not counting things like PowerVR or Rendition even though I had a Verite card). Oh Doom in Glide is 35 fps but if you use our OpenGL you get 60 fps, but performance won’t be as great in X-wing!

Now it is just fake “using our AI frame generation you get 90% improvement in fake frames while also using our AI up scaling that renders the game at 460 but it looks like 4k! Powered by nVidia! It just works.”

Now that the flagship cards are back down to 2 slots, Nvidia needs to bring back SLI. I'm sure it'd help with AI shit too.

Didn't they intentionally restrict that to the pro-tier cards to force businesses to shell out more aibucks?

Isn't hdmi going to 2.2 now for more bandwidth? If the cards don't have it then what's the point of the new cards. Plus you would have to buy a new monitor with 2.2.

You won't see any hardware with 2.2 for like a year, let alone stuff you would buy for like two years.

Key Features

  1. Increased Bandwidth: HDMI 2.2 doubles the bandwidth to 96 Gbps, up from 48 Gbps in HDMI 2.1b
  2. Higher Resolutions and Refresh Rates: The increased bandwidth allows for:
    • 4K resolution at up to 480 Hz
    • 8K resolution at up to 240 Hz
    • 10K resolution at 120 Hz
    • 12K resolution (12,288 x 6,480 pixels) at up to 120 fps

You do need a lot of bandwidth for VR but I don’t know enough about VR to say how much or if HDMI even is used instead of DP for it.

Just reading around on various other forums, youtube, and reddit this is the first time I really get the impression that most people are unhappy with Nvidia to the extent that they intend to skip this generation. The only people I really see looking to upgrade are those with low end 30x cards or even 1080’s who intend to upgrade to the 5070 TI and the people at 4k who are considering it because they have to in order to maintain the frames they’re after.

I’m not seeing the enthusiasm at all here that was apparent in the past. The fake frame DLSS version 9,000 shit is being called out everywhere.

Edit: I will say though the people who buy into the DLSS 83230 bullshit have really, really bought into it though. Jfc those people can’t be saved.

My body is ready for those 26 native FPS. I'm LOCKED IN for a purchase, and can't wait to play pantheon at 8k.

Was just about to say I see a lot of TRUE BELIEVERS in the comments re: DLSS. The propensity for people to want these 5 series to be a considerable upgrade is still pretty high.

There are likely even people on FOH in this thread leaning in that "fake frames is still real to me damnit" direction.

It's that new product rollout and consumerism driving them.

I just don't want to see that cock sucker in an even shinier jacket next year.

Quest 2/3 Virtual Desktop works great wirelessly for VR off my PC which is still a 3700x with a 2070 GTX Super.

It's using display compression and you're not pushing enough resolution with that GPU. VR is north of 60gbps uncompressed at moderate resolutions.

Without all the AI 'boosted' performance nonsense this is basically what we're looking at:

$550: RTX 5070 12 GB ~= 7900 GRE, 4070 Ti, and 4070 Super.

$750: RTX 5070 Ti 16 GB ~= 7900 XT to RTX 4080 or 7900 XTX

$1K: RTX 5080 16 GB ~= An overclocked 4090.

$2K: RTX 5090 32 GB ~= 4090 + 30%

It's extremely unlikely that I will replace my 7900 XTX until the 60 series.

Early adopters will get fucked, as they always do, as they almost always deserve.

Don't be those doofuses. Wait 6 months.
