NVIDIA has always been better at software compared to ATI/AMD. That's why they're so successful.

Without good GPU drivers your "hardware" is just an expensive door stopper.

i've never really understood why GPU drivers need to get updated for every fucking game that comes out, when consoles don't do that at all.

at CES a few nvidia people mentioned they think within a decade most video games will be using the generative AI chips (tensor cores) on their GPU cards, not the shader/RT cores, and those have been growing much faster/beefier on GPUs than raster/shader cores. Basically creating frames from command directives and stuff that allow much faster and detailed instant rendering instead of texture mapping. \

Its sorta interesting but I wonder how it'll work out, so far I don't really like the stuff from the tensor cores like DLSS or the ACE stuff on the 50xx line.

So they think the GPU is just gonna make shit up instead of drawing what the developers intended? LOOOOOOOOL.

The future is gonna suck so fucking bad.

It already does. Indiana Jones looks worse than the last Tomb Raider while using 10x the hardware. And it gets praise.

This new software will allow them to move back to 30fps/720p; upscaled to 4k, fake framed to 120 hz.

They'll eagerly do it just to eliminate any dev time optimizing performance.

I tried playing with the framegen settings in Indiana Jones just to see what it was all cracked up to be. There's a few options. Everything made the game look even worse. I don't think I'd give DLSS another chance. Although this is probably just an Indiana Jones issue.

5090 FE uses liquid cooling instead of thermal paste, wonder if that means anything for lifetime of card

You mean liquid metal.

5080 is a womp-womp exactly like I expected:

These cards are kinda garbage imo.

Surprised the 5090 is the only compelling offering, and even that is very meh. Sticking with 4090, but will be buying a 5090 FE to flip from Best Buy with my l33t hookup.

the 5070 ti seems like a great deal - $749- if you are moving from a 30xx or older, but yeah i assume if you are at cutting edge 40xx its a generation to skip

Kind of still waiting on more results of the 5070 ti, partner availability, and cost to see if I want to move off my 3080. Would I notice it, maybe? I don't game at 4k.

I would say the 4070 Ti is very compelling at the listed price if you're on a 3000 series card or older.

All the rest... oof.

I’ve been very happy with my 4070ti. Stuff runs great on it.

You mean 5070 or are you suggesting picking up a 4070 for the cheap ones the 5-series is out? Seemed like a typo but was just checking.

Those new AMD cards though....If they can keep the cost below a 5070, that 9070 offering seems pretty legit, on par with a 4080 for like 1/2 the price?

I'm doing exactly what they want. Grabbing the 5090 after seeing the performance of the 5080. What a load of crap.

I NEED a 5090 for Bloons 6

Sorry, yes, I meant the 5070 ti is the most compelling performance/dollar of the bunch, but still uninteresting compared to last-gen.
